Do we secretly admire her \ want to be like her? Or is she too cold and aloof?

Me? Mmmmmm.... good question to self.

Love her. Real but brilliant.

I love her, too. She's fantastic. I do feel sorry for her son, her boyfriend, her mother, her ex husband and all of her colleagues, though!

She does seem to possess male traits, doesn't she, rather than female? There was an interview with her, think it was The Guardian, where she said that, too.

There's a scene I love where she's at home, focusing on her work. Her son's gone back to his dad's. Bengt's new home is being ignored. Her mum was there and said she too was going away, to be with her sister. The inference being that she didn't want to live with Lund. All Lund said was 'Are you driving there? I need your car.'

It reminded me so much of a Mumsnet post, one of those in relationships. You know, "My husband hasn't spoken to me since 1985 and I'm feeling quite cross."

she's barking but i like her!
atswim i did love that scene with her mum Grin

thing is her mum seems a bit stately home iykwim - very critical of her - so did she develop that introspection, obsession and distance as a self protection mechanism?

That singlemindedness in a man wouldn't even be subject for comment. I like the way Meyer was really set up to balance her - family man etc etc and showing empathy (worrying about her - sleeping, eating, relationships), whereas she never showed much empathy to him.
I wish I had her singlemindedness....
