Loved it. Has reignited my inappropriate Matt Smith crush.

JackieNo · 20/03/2011 12:12

I enjoyed it, but it felt really wrong to be watching Doctor Who have loud gay sex.
And yes, the clothes were fab.

sharbie · 20/03/2011 12:21

The guy who played Heinz has amazing cheekbones, I was wondering where I had seen them before. Then it hit me, he was Boy George in Worried About the boy. Didn't recognise him without the face full of make-up!

tethersend · 20/03/2011 14:50

I thought it was great- but Isherwood was a bit of a cunt cad, no?

ShowOfHands · 20/03/2011 14:51

I enjoyed it. I like Christopher Isherwood anyway and thought it was very well done. Captured the frightening shifts towards Nazi rule very well. The whole landscape changed so quickly.

DH came in halfway through the loud gay sex, raised an eyebrow and walked out again.

ShowOfHands · 20/03/2011 14:53

Isherwood was brilliant. Grin Went from repressed London to the joys of Berlin's underworld in one train journey. He of course took advantage. He fell irrevocably in love with a 16yr old when he was 48ish iirc and they were together for 30 odd years. I think I heard on the radio that he consulted on this production (don bachardy, the artist).

tethersend · 20/03/2011 14:57

Didn't treat Heinz particularly well I thought...

ShowOfHands · 20/03/2011 15:28

Which bit? I thought he did his best.

sharbie · 20/03/2011 15:43

yh me too

Half way through watching this at the moment. Isherwood is a nasty man IMO, but I am optimistic it will change.
DH and I started watching it together last night, when the announcer man said it contained scenes of a sexual nature he was quite happy. The realisation that it would be scenes of a gay sexual nature soon took the smile off his face and he stopped watching.
Interesting really as we have several gay male friends.

Loved it.
