ok, i just watched last weeks right before this weeks.

i love the series. i loved the last one. i love prof cox. i love that i can understand complex physics cos he goes out into deserts and makes sand castles...

but i found last weeks so sad!

i absolutely love to go out on a dark clear night and stargaze, and to think that one day, nothing will be anymore, well, i could cry!
i think i must be a bit hormonal or something...

this weeks was also fab and not quite as depressing...

but i want to know what happens next? what happens when the universe ends and time ends? SOMETHING must happen!??

Sad and having a Wine

I love this series too. It makes my head heart though! I can't get my head around the numbers and the vastness of it all. In some ways it makes me think we are all so insignificant in the scheme of things but on the other hand it makes me feel so blessed that in all that space, we are all here on our little planet! I hope we find life on another planet in my lifetime. That would be amaaaaaaaaazing.

Yes. Me.

I found last weeks episode grim and it really didn't help my morbid streak.

And it doesn't help that he often looks quite smiley whilst explaining about the futility of it all Hmm.

Great programme...it's just that a whole episode underlining the ultimate insignificance of the whole of the human race is a bit much to swallow in my current state of mind.
(and Brian Cox looks exactly like an elderly woman I used to work with, so I can't even watch with the lustful intentions most MNers seem to have towards him ! Grin)

Sorry - late to this chat but while I found the previous week a little depressing, I still found it fascinating and this week's was just amazing. We're all stars! I even wrote a blog post about it in case you're interested

I read somewhere that Astronauts often have to have counselling after their first trip into space because they are so overwhelmed by how futile their existence is, and how small they are in comparison to the universe.

Is it just me that always imagines Brian to lean over when the camera stops rolling and take a huge suck on a giant bong?

He reminds me of a super intelligent hippy!

Although, I do love him and think the shows brilliant-he simplifies it all for our little minds to handle (well, mine anyway!).

I often think deep morbid thoughts anyway so doesn't make any difference to me!

i stared and stared at Orion last night...im waiting for that supanova!

i love the programme. and i love that we are all made of star dust, i love knowing what i didnt know before.

So glad it wasn't just me... I was totally depressed after watching it

Can't put my finger on why . I suppose its the thought of then there is nothing. I am not religous but hope there is something after we die. I actually watched the programme and thought right when lights are out that really is it.

I am totally morbid too where as DH was excited about being returned back to space.

MrsPennySworth.

I sometimes wonder what Brian is like in everyday life.

Professor Brian Cox goes house-hunting:

"What I find...incredible...is jus' how oonbelievably vasst the converted loft studio is. And if I stand here... it's incredible that all this - the hardwood floor, the retro bay windows, the garden and the railway track and the river and the town beyond...all this is made oop of the same stuff...Born in the heaaart of a vasst star a billion billion billion billion billion-"

Mrs Cox: "Brian! Come ON, we've got another six places to see this weekend." (Shakes head in despair.)
