...after reading how much people had enjoyed it on here. Come and tell me how much I will love it. I have a horrible cold and am feeling thoroughly sorry for myself- I need some cheering up!

Mad men is brill, I'm sure you'll love it.
Beware though you may develop severe crush on Joan

BitOfFun · 02/03/2011 18:41

DP reckons he's heard that nothing much happens in it. Is that true? Is it more observational than anything?

I've only seen series one but I really loved it, i've got the others to go through when I get a free 10 hours or however long the next series is!

JackieNo · 02/03/2011 20:24

It's fab, and yes, although the plots aren't earth shattering, there's so much to look at, and mull over, the costumes, the attitudes and behaviour, the decor [shallow]. Just brilliant!

Punkatheart · 02/03/2011 20:42

The pace is lovely - unusual in that it is slow - but worth it. And Jon Hamm - could be have any more chisel to his features?

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 02/03/2011 20:43

I have only watched the first series so far but it is just so beautiful to look at!

AyeRobot · 02/03/2011 20:50

Oh, I wish I were in your position and watching it for the first time. If you get really into it, The Guardian did some great blogs delving into each episode and putting them in a cultural context etc.

BitOfFun · 02/03/2011 20:51

Oh good. I will look them up- thanks Smile

\link{http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/series/notes-from-the-break-room?INTCMP=SRCH\Here's the Guardian blog}, but I think it only starts from series 2. It really is very good - I looked forward to reading the blog the day after the episode had aired almost as much as I looked forward to the episodes themselves.

BitOfFun · 03/03/2011 13:40

I am rattling through series one just to get to it Grin
