WEDNESDAY 19 OCTOBER

Interests

What Not to Wear

8:00pm - 9:00pm

BBC1 London & South East

VIDEO Plus+: 5971
Subtitled, Widescreen

1/5

There were no preview tapes of the opening episode of this new series, but previous exposure to Trinny and Susannah's unique brand of sartorial self-help suggests it will entail more bracing candour and tearful self-realisation. Tonight's theme is divorce, with two freshly singlefied women encouraged to renew their dilapidated wardrobe and sagging ego by the bluff twosome.

will do. my knickers are a bit pants (ha ha) but have always gone for comfort not glamour

Caligula · 19/10/2005 18:10

Anyone who wears very bad knickers when they're about to meet Trinny and Susannah, should understand that they'll be given a rough ride though.

What was she thinking of?

bundle · 19/10/2005 18:10

pants are deffo not underwear (imo) but not as bad as calling them briefs...

bundle · 19/10/2005 18:10

calig, you are right. esp with 360 degree mirror

aren't they the divorcees tonight?

Caligula · 19/10/2005 18:12

If I were meeting them, I think I'd probably throw at least half my wardrobe out first!

And then turn up with only about 4 outfits, because that's all I could defend.

i use to like this but the psycology aspect - as if they are really really helping these people - is bit superfical

hermykne · 19/10/2005 20:14

trinny just stepped out the car with the trilby on - ridiculous - does she honstly think we cant see therough that..............

Bozza · 20/10/2005 11:20

I agree Trinny did look a bit ridiculous feeding the animals. But they always do on that bit where they "live their lives" - always wear something totally inappropriate that looks good.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion on this. I think they did well with Bev, she was quite up for it and I think it did a lot for her confidence.

OrribleOliveoil · 20/10/2005 13:11

I think they are fabulous and would love to meet them, especially Susannah, she seems a bit more human. But I would raid Trinny's wardrobe (am same build but have boobs).

Thought the women looked great afterwards, especially the younger one, her eyes shone.

But why did she wear white knickers and a black bra???????????

jax010 · 20/10/2005 14:13

I like them and enjoy the programmes (and books). But what about the bit where one of the women was in the circular mirror room thing and burst into tears? T & S were just standing there behind her with sympathetic/concerned expressions, one had her hand on the woman's shoulder - the shot went on for ages and I could just FEEL them thinking 'God, this is making fabulous television'.

Bozza · 20/10/2005 14:17

Just what was clean in the drawer oo? I have been known to do it the other way round if I was wearing a white top and dark trousers/skirt. Although I am a bit of a matching set girl usually.

bundle · 20/10/2005 14:53

just because they know it's "fabulous tv" it doesn't mean they're completely divorced from what's happening, emotionally. i've interviewed loads of people who've got upset (one doctor springs to mind, as she recalled a patient bleeding to death back in the 60's, after she'd had a backstreet abortion) but I'm still a human being and wouldn't broadcast it if they didnt' want to, and no one has ever said no (so far)

JenumGeranium · 20/10/2005 14:56

Oh no was it on already? I missed it! Drat!

Do they repeat it?

I would love to go on this programme but I would probably end up crying all the time!
