Did anyone see this - it was so upsetting, but a real eye opener.

I know there are thousands of good nurses and doctors in the NHS but the ones on show in this programme (for the most part) were appalling - and of course it wasn't just the nurses but the endless bureaucracy and passing the buck.

The patients, and their friends and family deserved better than this.

I think we all need to shout louder and longer to get anything like a reasonable service.

I watched with abaited breath last night, I work in a small community hospital and it shocked me to see the blatent neglect of policies and protocols,, beleive me when I say not all hospitals are hosting uncaring staff, any patient in our care is dealt with with the utmost respect and we strive to maintain their dignity (and ours) so I hope those staff in that programme are dealt with apropriatly, I would like to say most of us treat our patients with this thought in mind, "What if it were my mum" .

I think the treatment of the patients shown was appalling.

How on earth does it take 4 days to get a syringe driver? Surely that must be a priority?

And the poor man in the hospital. Disgusting treatment.

Poor man was feeling sick and the nurse trying to force him to take his meds.

I couldn't watch it, I'm a nurse and find poor care just too distressing.

sauvignon - I am also a nurse. I wanted to punch the nurses face (the one who was trying to force pills down a mans throat). fgs, if he couldn't take his meds they should have got pharmacy to explore other methods of taking the drugs.

I know most nurses are not like this at all, but as ever the minority ruin it for the majority.

I felt that although the individual nurses were not good, it is really the system that stinks - they need better monitoring/training and the system that allowed that man to die like that at home is crap - do you realise he was 68 - when I first saw him I thought he was a good decade older.
