South Riding - worth watching?

I have a couple of hours for catch-up TV today.

Is South Riding worth my time?

I was worried it was a bit twee and "Heartbeat-like" - don't know why.

I like my drama with bollocks on.

It looks ok - so maybe worth just watching the 1 hour episode and working out whether it's your cup of tea - but it has skeletons in the closets, a feminist head in charge of a girls school in the 50's, a bit of a love triangle etc.

The style of it is soooo gorgeous, and it has a bit of bollox too :)

It's set in the thirties, isn't it? I have ordered the book, apparently it's very good.

Why couldn't Midge's mother have children?

Think it was because she was so precarious, mental health wise, that it pushed her over the edge.

Completely superficial but I love most of Anna Maxwell-Martin's wardrobe in it. Actually, I have a crush on Anna Maxwell Martin I think.
