Why Brighthouse the H&A sponser actively NOT promoting Breastfeeding

This really bothers me, when the so called people's company,BRIGHTHOUSE, who on their website claim they deliver on their corporate responsiblity and sponser daily soap, Home and away are actively promoting formula feeding .

Everyday before the show airs and during commerical breaks there is a little ad showing the new father taking coffees on a tray to the new mum ( who is holding the newborn baby )and her friend on the sofa and he gives the mum a bottle to feed litte baby Danny also .

Why on earth cannot the producers of the programme have the mum breast feeding on the sofa?
It would not make a differnce to the ad for brighthouse .

Home away is my guilty secret , i love it and watch with my lunch almost every day.

The audience demographic is probably mostly young mums and also young people and teenagers as it's shown at tea time as well .

I don't want to demonise FF but surely in these enlightedned times we should be showing breast feeding as the norm ?

I think you're massively overreacting tbh. If peopel decide to formula feed based on te 'sponsored by' segments on tv they have bigger problems tbh

sorry I mean the producers of the commercials should have known better . i am suprised at home and away, it being Australian programme I would have thought that they would have picked up on this as it doesn't look good for them.

Oh for crying out loud.

dustwhatdust · 21/02/2011 15:38

exactly , what you've just said has convinced me !
Quite impressionable people who don't know are probably watching.

I'm not saying everybody is going to decide to FF just because of a commercal but we're supposed to promoting BF as something everybody does for the good of their baby .

I realise some people cannot or are not able to BF but we should always put it as the norm ...

I'm more concerned that the two women don't work, have credit agreements for everything in their house and one of them got pg by a bloke she met on holiday a few months before.

One of them i think is supposed to be a SAHM with children at school, but i don't know about the other one who got off with Bruce on her Aussie holiday !! Grin
