Haven´t watched much TV over the last few years. Have just caught up with Desperate Housewives, ER is over. Looking for some ideas. What other US series would I like?

30 Rock is very funny

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 20/02/2011 20:27

Medium (although I still cry every time I think about the last episode.

Monk, CSI and CSI New York (not CSI Miami though, it's shit)

I love Buffy CaveMum I have that and Angel on dvd.

Charmed started off good but got really bad at the end.

Glee is fab too :o

ValiumSandwich · 20/02/2011 20:28

Is medium finished now?

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 20/02/2011 20:30

Yes, it got cancelled so the last series is only 15 episodes or something. I don't think it's been shown on tv in the UK yet but my sister knows about certain sites [looks shifty emoticon] whats on tv is crap atm so these sites keep me sane while at home with ds all day lol.

joydivisionovengloves · 20/02/2011 20:34

The Wire
Mad Men
Six Feet Under
Deadwood
The Sopranos
Band of Brothers
Rome
Generation Kill

oldqueenie · 20/02/2011 20:35

Curb your enthusiasm (larry david). all seven series are fabulous and v v funny.

sopranos. best thing ever.

another vote for mad men here too!

CaveMum · 20/02/2011 20:38

The West Wing TAUGHT me about US politics! You pick the lingo up as you go along but there is next to no explanation of the language!

Another funny series that was cancelled after only a short run was The War At Home. I really liked it but I think they only made 2 or 3 seasons.

Also, I rediscovered Malcolm in the Middle this afternoon. Top show!

omg have just got through most of series 2 of carnivale and it is the best goddamn thing ever - I am really sad as I could watch it for ever, and the original plan was for six series, but it got cut short for being 'too literary' - even the title sequence is a work of art - I am so sad that really high-quality stuff ends because it is too 'clever' I have read some US reviews and it basically got cut up by thicko US tv reviewers.. I wish they had aired it here eastern europe and australia/NZ simultaneously then it would have got the six series run - I really hope some of you watch it - it really is awesome - be patient as it slowly gets more and more excellent like a really good book....

vjg13 · 23/02/2011 13:01

I liked Carnivale too. Really enjoyed the whole feel of it and season 2 was better than 1. Have you tried Deadwood, really enjoying that at the moment.

RantyMcRantpants · 23/02/2011 13:07

Another vote for West Wing. I don't do politic's, bores me rigid, I know, I know...... I should and all that..... BUT West Wing is the dog's wotsits. You really don't need to know anything. The acting is spot on, the writing is fantabulous.

streptococcus · 23/02/2011 13:15

I am currently enjoying true blood at the moment. only on series one so far. quite a bit of hot vampire sex if thats your kinda thing.

and mad men is great if you havent seen it yet.

jellybeanstastepurple · 23/02/2011 13:15

Grey's Anatomy for cheesy goodness. House goes downhill after season 4 IMO.

smellsofsick · 23/02/2011 13:17

West Wing is brilliant, The Wire is amazing and oldqueenie is right about The Sopranos - really addictive.

Buriedundernappies · 25/02/2011 20:45

I have:
The OC
Bones
Buffy
Angel
Gossip girl
Vampire Diaries
Glee
Greys Anatomy
ER
All equally good for different reasons :o

TheCowardlyLion · 26/02/2011 17:45

To be fair, The Vampire Diaries is only really good for one reason:

right here

DH's birthday present has arrived. The Complete Mr. Benn, all 14 episodes plus one new bonus episode Grin all on one DVD. He's very excited :) to have the complete set.

It was a bargainous £2.99 from Play.com. Though I haven't told him that :) . I have a very happy DH.

HelensMelons · 01/03/2011 16:16

Yep, play.com were also doing the diehard boxset for a ridiculous amount of money - a tenner of something like that for all 4 of them!

Anyway, just started Week 3 (Season 1) of In Treatment with Gabriel Byrne. It is fab and the best thing I've watched since my House obsession!
