I think its really good a 'non=conventially' attractive woman was used for this storyline.

often in soaps female victims are always model material and I think its portrays 'only lookers get assualted; idea.

yes i see your point. are there really no other storylines that have been about not classically attractive women?

This storyline will hopefully do a lot for getting people to understand that rape is rarely about sex, it's about control. Men who rape aren't too fussed about who they are controlling and I guess it's often easier to lure younger (pretty, vivacious, friendly) girls into a dodgy situation? Older, less 'pretty' women do get raped quite regularly in real life and yes, I am glad to see this being highlighted on Emmerdale

Doctors did a very good job a couple of years ago I thought. Their rape storyline involved Vivien, the Dragon lady receptionist, who was an older lady. She was raped when her house was burgled by a couple of teenagers. But you are quite right of course, most rape storylines do feature "pretty" victims.

The Archers had a rape storyline a few years back - obv it's radio, but the victim, Kathy, was not "village totty" either, but a divorced mum kind of approaching middle age.

Sheila Grant in Brookside was a frumpy, mumsy housewife, so Phil Redmond was there before the Emmerdale writers.

I wonder if Darstardly Derek's next victim will be Lizzie? I got the impression he was miffed when as he was escorting her home from the Woolpack, Gennie and co invited her back for coffee, possibly scuppering his intentions.

there was girls at schoo who suffered abuse and people would go 'well who would rape you?'

as they werent attractive, I think it makes it harder to talk about if this attitude is around.
