I absolutely agree. It's shocking. There are plenty of Muslim kids at DD's school and all is fine. I don't know why these 'faith' schools are needed. I would make the whole education system secular.

Thought there'd be a thread on this!

That school is in big trouble.

The violence was shocking.

Only got half an eye on the subtitles (MN!) but TBH the religious stuff they are teaching I'm sure is no worse than what is taught at religious schools of different flavours. Which doesn't make it OK, obviously.

Our local faith school is not like this at all and has a mix of Muslim and secular teachers

These people should be ashamed to call themselves Muslim and what they are doing/spouting is not Islamic

I don't know why the EDL- a small group of hooligans and bampots - is getting so much attention. They must be loving their high profile.

It's just fascinating how all of this is going to tie in with Gove's ideas - he wants to set up schools which are free from interference and don't have to teach national curriculum - I said at the time how will he feel when loads of religious fundamentalist schools are set up.

Interesting, and interesting timing for this documentary.

it's shocking that british kids are being abandoned to abuse and inadequate schooling.

what kind of further education and jobs will they be ready for once they escape this?

thenightsky · 14/02/2011 21:41

I'm just watching this now... how come the teachers are allowed to physically attack the children? I missed the beginning.

Hatterbox · 15/02/2011 10:17

It was uncomfortable viewing.

What concerns me is how the school that was teaching intolerance was able to come up with 'excuses' for these teachings, i.e. one assembly was taken by a visting 'scholar' and not a member of staff, and that the regular teachers teach tolerance.

However, one of the regular teachers was interpreting what the visiting 'scholar' (if one can call him that) was saying, and if that school employee really believes in the teaching of tolerance he surely would have refused to tell the pupils was the visiting 'scholar' was saying.
