Not sure which thread to put this on, would avavtar be too old for a 7 year old? Thanks

To be honest it depends on your child. I took DS to see it at the cinema when he was 9 and he loved it.

It is however about 2 and a half hours long and to be honest I slept through most of it. In fact if the 3D effects hadn't been especially good I'd probably have slept more!!

If your 7 year old can be absorbed for 2 and a half hours then it would be fine but I do think it can be a bit worthy and the themes are quite adult (humans taking over an Alien planets because they have some sort of power source humans want and in doing so kill off the indigenous population).

Took DS to see Avatar just before his 7th birthday and he loved it. Glued to the screen for the whole time, didn't move a muscle.

DS didn't get the theme of it, in true boy fashion he loved the aliens, the guns and the big monsters Grin

It's a very long film.

Depends if your dc can sit still that long.

I waited until it was on DVD cos I can't bear to sit down that long.

Yes it's a 12, IMO OK for a 7yo (DS2 was actually 6 when he saw it Blush.

It's as others say very long but all mine were glued to it (saw it in 3D tho).

Also the end especially is quite violent, lots of planes firing bombs and lots of characters get killed so if yr DS is nervous then better prepare him.
