Am I the only one to be 'blown away' by the true background of Pauley Perrette born March 1969, ex lead singer of an all-girl punk band, studied Criminology, Sociology and Psychology, Actress, Director, Producer and owner of a record company too...

I know women over 40 look good, but not that many play someone in her twenties so well...

LOL SNF, it was her mind, just as much, that impresses me.

Yes, I miss Kate too (adjusts trousers!)

Yes am v impressed but assuming she must be a bit mercenary to be on such a crap show! I hate when shows get smug and start assuming all the characters must be so loveable somehow (happened on CSI, Buffy, CHarmed being the worst culprit). Esp when the scripts are rubbish and the plots resolve themselves in pretty much the same way each week.

Like so many shows (eg Miranda) there are a mix of views.

I am a 'minor' fan, even if some think it is a 'crap' show, but the thing I find least believable about CSI/NCIS concerns the spacious well equipped labs with relatively few indicators of neglected paintwork etc and always hig-tech screens etc.

I've been a fan of shows by Stephen Bochco and Donald Bellisario for years, and while NCIS might not be on a par with some shows, I think it is partly because the characters' family lives are left out of it much of the time, compared with say CSI or NYPD Blue, etc.

I don't know how the tvguide.co.uk users rated The Bill but NCIS gets 8.5, Lewis gets 8.6, and Morse gets 7.5 so while you might not like it much, it's still popular among other those who have voted.

Yes bran, he does look good, and I'd never have guessed. I saw a bit of CSI NY earlier and thinking about age, there was a story where Eddie Cahill (playing Detective Flack) was meant to have trained a 'rookie' 20 years earlier, who then moved evidence when his son was involved in a robbery/killing at a corner shop.

Just checked as I felt he was too young to be playing a 40-something and sure enough, he is too young, born in January 1978 :)

Melina Kanakaredes (playing Stella Bonasera), who I think has now left CSI NY, was born April 67, so only a couple of years older than Pauley, but looks early 30s to me.

And how can anyone do detailed forensic work in such badly lit labs/offices. Eg ANY cop show from 2000 onwards. And how do those see through notice boards help anyone?

coppertop · 04/02/2011 13:33

Dh is a big fan of Abby. So am I but I suspect for different reasons. Hmm

The only character I never particularly liked was the goddawful Jenny and her unmoveable face.

NetworkGuy · 04/02/2011 14:22

Oh come on, coppertop, she did smile from time to time, but I guess as head of such a department with the 'office politics' of sometimes being up against the local Police, the FBI, NSA and CIA, having a "poker face" at times might be a requirement :)

Oh yes, she is a hottie. I can't believe she is 41/42!!

David McCallum looks extraordinarily young for 75 too. He could pass for 55.

craftynclothy · 04/02/2011 14:32

Shock She's more than 10 years older than me. Shit. I think I look old enough to be her mum SadConfusedBlush

Another actress, Khandi Alexander (playing Dr. Alexx Woods, the pathologist in CSI Miami until a couple of years ago) made me stop and check the IMDB page again when I found she was born in 1957. I was thinking late 30s at most.

Burn Notice has Sharon Gless (of Cagney and Lacy fame) born 1943. I did not recognise her as the drinking, smoking, mother of the ex-agent, but they have already made over 80 episodes (not sure that we've seen more than the first couple of series, where their 6th series is due for release in 2012!)

It was only from a FiveUSA "between programmes" interview of Sharon Gless and one of the actors that I became aware of who was playing the character. OK, she has gone from blonde to white haired, but again, she's clearly still in demand and was on TV over in the US through the 90s, presenting awards and doing one-off shows, then in a series from 2000 to 2005.
