I have just seen on News 24 that 80's classic telly programme Dallas is to make a return to our screens- central characters will be Bobby and JR's sons.

I cannot wait ! Grin

I'm so glad someone else posted about this, I am UNREASONABLY excited about this!! The original JR, Bobby and Sue-Ellen are all reprising their roles!!

Hullygully · 03/02/2011 16:05

Really???

Fab. Can't wait.

Guaparesaca · 04/02/2011 22:31

Bobby will still be my favourite

I can't wait for it. But I think it lost it's viewers over the whole shower scene/dream thing and never recovered from that. I just hope the return is for the right reasons and isn't just a nostalgia trip for the 80's brigage because it could be short lived if that's what it's based on. It needs to stand up in it's own right and not rely on the popularity of the past.

One thing i'm cynical about is the lack of the older characters. I'm not saying that all the old cast should all return but there's this huge push to involve so many young cast members and I think sometimes older actors have a bit more personality and tend to be more interesting and gritty. Young people are ok but I find them a bit bland at times and lack personality and character. Why can't we have more characters like the Barnes family and Sue Ellen isn't a drunk anymore? WTF. This is mainly the reason we used to tune in every week for the drunken rows and constant drama.

I just hope the drama and rows and all round bitterness and feuds live up to the original. Bring it on!

Saw promo for this yesterday and was seriously unnerved by Patrick Duffy's awful plastic surgery - his eyes look weird!

Am loving new Dallas! Am in ireland so don't want to post up any spoilers as i don't know when it gets shown everywhere else.

gazzalw · 04/09/2012 08:29

Is Cliff Barnes going to be in it???

daisygatsby · 04/09/2012 15:29

qazxc im in ireland too and i watched it last night. all i will say is its absolutely hilarious!

gazzalw · 05/09/2012 06:17

Personally think it appealed greatly as a teen but not so sure how it will translate now a lot of us are cynical, life-weary people!!

Thumbwitch · 05/09/2012 06:29

It's already started here - and already, only 2 programmes in, I can feel my blood boiling at the shenanigans!! So underhanded, JR hasn't changed at all, it's horrifying! Grin

Cliff Barnes is indeed in it, Swellen hasn't changed an iota, no Pam :(, Lucy has put on rather a lot of weight but is still identifiable - oh it's hilarious!

The junior Ewings are rather easy on the eye as well...

Thumbwitch · 05/09/2012 06:32

I've also been a bit naughty and read some of the spoilers - the shenanigans run deep! Wink

Just watching episode 3 now - it's all hotting up even more! Grin
