am curiously drawn to this though Dr Christian is a bit creepy..I can't imagine showing anything of my body on television but I can see how it might encourage people to pluck up courage to get things seen to

I find it fascinating but like you, I cannot imagine showing any part of me that wouldn't normally be on show i.e. hands etc

I think the people on it must be very brave to go on it, particularly if they have previously asked for help from GPs etc and not been successful with that.

Butterbur · 29/01/2011 09:32

I do find it slightly addictive. What surprises me is all the people who say "I'm so ashamed of this, even my husband/wife has never seen it" who then get their kit off and display their bum/willy/fanjo to 10 million TV viewers.

KurriKurri · 29/01/2011 13:00

I can't understand why the chap with the hernia had left it for so long - I'm fairly sure he would have been given the op. no problem on the national health. I presume it's 'men won't go to the doctor' syndrome.

I imagine some of the people must just be desperate for help though (the girl with the double uterus sounded as if she'd been fobbed off for years).

I don't know why but, on several occasions, I have been watching TV and when I idly flick through the other channels during a break I always manage to switch on to Embarrassing Bodies just as they have an extreme close-up of someones anus Shock.

Believe me, its quite disconcerting when you're not expecting it.

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 14:34

I have a strange fascination/possible crush on Dr Christian....

KurriKurri · 29/01/2011 14:37

The tonsils were a bit gruesome - poor girl, again you'd think since she's been having tonsillitis regularly her GP would have organised the operation for her before now.

Bertina · 29/01/2011 14:39

Oh God me too LL. Blush

I can understand going on EB if your GP etc have failed to help so far, like the woman with the double vagina/uterus condition.

But it surprises me that people are happy to bare their particulars in that way if it's a problem they're embarrassed by.

franke · 29/01/2011 14:43

I don't understand why people suffer, really suffer for so long. Some of the solutions to their problems seem really simple - is this flagging up serious failings in the NHS e.g. incompetent GPs or is something else going on?

Was astonished at the size of the tonsils - I had no idea they looked like that. Were that poor girl's particularly inflamed?

ManicMother7777 · 29/01/2011 14:45

I agree with you Butterbur, but I reckon people do it because it gets them quickly to the top specialists, presumably funded by Channel 4.

I'm addicted Blush

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 19:13

Glad it's not just me, Bertina Wink

Yeah, I completely get why people would go on, since they get instant access to experts in the field. I am really surprised that the girl with the tonsils hadn't already had them taken out on the NHS, though!

MrsChemist · 29/01/2011 20:21

Dr Christian looks like a Siamese cat.

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 20:27

I don't know what it is - I don't usually like men with ANY muscles, and he's like the Hulk, and he has weird (transplanted!) hair, yet....there's just something about him! Blush

bluebump · 29/01/2011 20:28

I could never go on this programme! My DP was begging me to turn it over yesterday and watching with his hands in front of his eyes!!

My cousin went on that show The Salon once and had botox in his armpits to stop him sweating so much - he'd been to his GP and was told he couldn't have it done on the NHS so i'd guess that's why people go on shows like this.

TheFarSide · 29/01/2011 20:31

Dr Christian is gay BTW.

I still fancy him, even though I can never have him.

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 20:35

TheFarSide I know, I saw him on the cover of Attitude Sad

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 20:36

....I can't believe I've admitted to this Grin

BehindLockNumberNine · 29/01/2011 20:41

Dr Christian has transplanted hair?? Really? Wow, I never noticed.

BehindLockNumberNine · 29/01/2011 20:41

Arf, baldy!

BehindLockNumberNine · 29/01/2011 20:42

And now my bolding did not work!

I give up!!!!

Oh only recently got into this, taped it last night and not watched it yet!

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 20:51

PixieOnaLeaf The being-a-gorgeous-and-sucessful-doctor-that-get's-to-work-with-Dr-Christian bit is quite enviable - not sure how I'd feel about scraping my own poo out of a jar on national telly Wink

Though, in all seriousness, I think that was a good/important segment.

LionessLady · 29/01/2011 20:55

BehindLockNumberNine It's the Daily Fail but tells the story :)

BehindLockNumberNine · 29/01/2011 21:11

Thanks lioness Smile
Have had a read - don't think dh will go for it somehow. (plus our bankbalance won't ever stretch to it anyhow...Smile)

Actually, I find Dr Christian a bit... erm.... disturbing looking. Not sure why, but something is not quite right...
