Charlie and Lola

Just watched the guinea pigs episode of Charlie and Lola. Can anybody tell me the accent of the little girl who plays Mini Reader? (She's the very well-informed and studious one in the green dress.) I like ehr voice, but can't place it.

Also, I see both Clementine and Maisie Cowell have played Lola... anyone know if they are the Maisie and Clemmie Lauren Child dedicated her 'I am too Absolutely Small for School' book too? I have often wondered.

Grin I know. I love Lotta trying to say 'Abyssinian'.

Also, I like her voice - apologies for typo.

I LOVE Charlie and Lola. I have a ds and am expecting a dd. Im assuming it'll be exactly like the utopia that Charlie and Lola live in! Grin

We are just getting into Charlie & Lola. DTD is starting to speak and 'Ro-Ra' is one of her favourite words at the moment Grin

My dd1 who's four is turning into Lola - yesterday my dds were having an argument and DD1 said 'Mummy, I must absolutely tell you the complete truth' Grin

Grin dd is 7 now but at 3,4,5 she was just like Lola. Dh and I would watch an episode with her and wonder aloud if Lauren Child had been spying on us. I love that stage! Scrappydappydoo, your dd1 sounds lovely.

Soppypreggyloon: be nice if it was! Wink

OpheliaBumps Grin at 'Ro-Ra'.

DD loves shouting 'Lola'. She adores the show and really missed it when we were on holiday. I managed to find it on tv there dubbed into Arabic and called 'Wesam and Dulad', but you could tell dd missed the "Lola!" and "Charlie" parts.

I always think it's a very mild Irish accent. Not sure, though! We aren't keen on Minnie in this house. She's always nicking going off with things - library books, fluffy coats... AND she was responsible for 'Bert's pregnancy. Hmph.

My DD (4 in March) is obsessed and said "I am absolutely and completely sorry, Mummy" today. How am I supposed to keep a straight face after that??

'NoNa' is one of our favourite TV shows.

I love the decor and Lola's dresses. Very stylish

And DH loves the theme music. He think it sounds like a 70s sitcom.

saffy85 · 28/01/2011 17:39

I love it! Possibly more than DD does lol. I think how the children talk is so real, some child characters on tv just don't sound right IYSWIM. I love reading DD the books too. Grin

Reshape, yes, Minnie seems like such a model student, but now you come to mention all of that...

I still can't place her accent. I'm a southerner, she sounds more northern than me (which is not hard!) but has some long vowel sounds. Hmm...

GothAnneGeddes, I think you can watch it in Gaelic, on 'on demand' TV. It's called 'Charlie is Lola'.
