This is one of our favourite programmes and now DD loves it too. She asked how it was scored, and DH and I realised we had no idea

Anyone actually know?!

plus points for correct answers and useful factoids, minus for incorrect.

no idea lol

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/01/2011 21:14

And Alan Davies always loses!! We are currently watching an old one, the lovely Stephen Fry is looking quite a lot younger!

Do you think SF just makes it up ( scoring) as he goes along?!

It's a really unfair system. +1 if you're right, -10 if you're wrong :D

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/01/2011 21:17

Ah.... so there is at least a system!!
What about the general ignorance bit where the alarm goes off? That must be masses of minus points.

Thinking about it more, I think they are allowed to be wrong in most of the show but not allowed in general ignorance. That must be when it's -10.

Lol. But have you ever known Alan Davies win?!

DH likes Bill Bailey best. I like most of them but not really Jimmy Carr

JeezyPeeps · 23/01/2011 09:27

Yes, Alan Davies has won, more than once - isn't it 8 times or something like that? I remember hearing that he had won it more times than anyone else - but I'm sure he's also lost it more times that anyone else, cos he is on it all the time!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/01/2011 21:21

Why is he a permanent fixture do you suppose?

OP posts:
comixminx · 24/01/2011 06:10

I think it's really the Alan and Stephen show, just not entirely billed as such. I suppose it's a bit like Have I got News for You, where you have two fixed team leads as well as (originally) the fixed question master (when it was Angus Deayton of course).

I always think it's a shame there's so few women on it - only once that I've seen more than one woman on it at the same time, and often none, and quite blokey to boot.

I also don't like Jimmy Carr, bah. At least it warns me off watching him on other shows.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2011 07:09

Can only think of Liza tarbuck / sandi tocks
tixsvik toxvik toksvidge that funny woman.

Alan Davies is the team captain - so he stays. Originally, Stephen Fry was to be the other team captain - with Michael Palin as host. When Palin dropped out - Fry stepped forward for a while - but became permanent. So now they have a moveable captain on one side and full-time captain on the other....

bronze · 24/01/2011 08:20

Ronni Anconas the only other I can think of off the top of my head

bronze · 24/01/2011 08:22

oh and Jo Brand

Doon Mackinan (sp?) was on as well

bronze · 24/01/2011 08:23

and how could I forget Sue Perkins

ok I'll stop now

iwouldgoouttonight · 24/01/2011 10:50

Emma Thompson too.

Agree it is quite blokey, I like it when Jo Brand is on best.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/01/2011 10:54

Blush I didn't even know there was a scoring system.

TrillianAstra · 24/01/2011 10:55

-10 is for making the siren go off.

Fine to be wrong, not allowed to be obvious.

And it's all made up anyway.

I love Jo brand. How could I forget her [shamed] not seen Emma Thompson or the others. Where have I been?!

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 24/01/2011 13:44

How can there be team captains when there are no teams? All 4 players are scored individually.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2011 13:54

Good point Lucy!!

I love the buzzers, they always make me titter
