There is NO WAY that Lorraine Pascale eats all those brownies and sausage rolls and other very fattening baked goods

I've just started a thread marvelling at her beautiful teeth!!

She used to be a model

Maybe she has something I don't when it comes to food, self restraint!

TheFoosa · 17/01/2011 20:54

hmm, a model [double Envy]

she's quite watchable

I want to like this prog. But it's too flippin' BBC2 twee for me - like that Sophie Dahl thing was.

TheFoosa · 17/01/2011 20:56

I know what you mean, I'm not taking in the recipes, just marvelling at how skinny and gorge she is

mangoandlime · 17/01/2011 21:01

Oh look - friends have just dropped by to enjoy the fast baked goodies. Yawn.

Guacamole · 17/01/2011 21:06

Did I seriously see her get ready to roll pastry, roll it out, chop a sausage in half and shove it in? I mean seriously? Bar the fact that her cooking is basic in its most basic form, she is very watchable.

EricNorthmansMistress · 17/01/2011 21:53

I watched it when V hungover on saturday and thought she was lovely :) The figgy creamy main course thing looked vomitous though.

donkeyderby · 17/01/2011 22:22

she's lovely. I like her laid back and straightforward presenting style. No daft Nigella gurning. Nice gappy teeth smile too!

JulesJules · 18/01/2011 09:23

I really liked it. Miles better than Sophie Dahl, yes she used to be a model, but she has since trained and worked as a chef. I think the recipes are easy for our benefit, rather than hers.

And she uses muscovado suger in her flapjacks like me, so she is RIGHT Grin

KurriKurri · 18/01/2011 10:17

Any one who makes really chocolaty brownies, and then thinks 'what can I add to finish it off? I know - a whole packet of Oreos' is OK in my book.]grin]

Jux · 18/01/2011 10:24

She's very charming and watchable. I would never sully brownies with Oreaos though - yuk yuk yukkety yuk

bacon · 18/01/2011 10:24

I just love her pure white clingy t-shirt! How can any cook get away with that? I cant wear white just doesnt work. Why dont they wear nice pinnys? I find it saves so many of my clothes from those awful grease marks.

I also wondered if she really does EAT too?

BornToFolk · 18/01/2011 10:28

I can't believe people think she's watchable! I tried to watch this last night but found it so annoying, I had to switch off.

mangoandlime has hit the nail on the head - BBC2 twee.

omnomnomtom · 18/01/2011 10:30

I enjoyed it last night- although on reflection there was nothing on it I actually want to make.
Was slightly unconvinced by her tucking into baked Camembert as she does look like she lives on salad but she probably just keeps fit and eats healthily. We don't have a go at male TV chefs for being slim and most of them are Smile

Butkin · 18/01/2011 11:30

Loved her and the show. However can you really make sausage rolls with real sausages - still in their skins?

Jux · 18/01/2011 13:00

I think I read about sausage rolls made like that on here quite recently. I think it was a Jamie Oliver recipe though Grin No idea about the skins but I probably wouldn't bother skinning them. Mind you, I don't much like sausage rolls so I probably wouldn't bother making them.

JulesJules · 18/01/2011 13:23

Have just made those brownies this morning and they are fab-u-lous. Gorgeously chocolately, squidgy in the middle - and v easy to make.

Indith · 18/01/2011 13:30

I found this very annoying. "Oh look I just put bought sausages in bought pastry am I not wonderful?" "Oh look I've made shop bought yoghurt and expensive fruit in a shop bought pastry bowl and I'm pretending it is as good as a French tart" Yeah right come off it, you call that baking?

ppeatfruit · 18/01/2011 15:39

isn't it funny how we don't like thin female cooks or FAT ones? It's called Easy baking though Indith

ppeatfruit · 18/01/2011 15:43

Oh and bacon you're SOO right about pinnies none of them wear them. Pretty pink angora jumper for cooking anyone ? Oh yes Nigella!

Indith · 18/01/2011 16:03

Well yes ppeat but there is easy baking and taking the piss baking Grin. I'll give her the brownies, they do look good although she doesn't look anywhere near as good as Nigella while eating them Grin

TheFoosa · 18/01/2011 17:07

That would be a much better title - Baking Made Piss Easy

OP posts:
turnitup · 19/01/2011 14:41

Yes it was really easy baking, but I enjoyed it even as a keen baker. Really liked the sun dried tom pastry things and will definitely make the brownies.

Remember there are always people out there just starting out baking, so I think there is a place for a show like this.

ppeatfruit · 19/01/2011 17:16

Agree turnitup I know why DH loved this programme!!! Grin

boogeek · 23/01/2011 15:31

I've just come on to see if there is a thread about this programme :) I rather like it (though agree have not been inspired to actually make anything and wtf oreos in brownies??) She's nice, but somebody has told her to occasionally pause and do a Nigella smirk to the camera; looks completely unnatural and horrible!
I was intrigued to know what she had on under the white T-shirt as she had no vBl (visible bra line) or anything...and I completely covet her kitchenaid: who knew they came with a glass bowl!
