I agree. Have only seen one but think it's totally out of order! Was laughing at the dad worrying about his son's 'gay' tendencies though Grin

30andMerkin · 17/01/2011 00:42

CHRIST! it just got a whole lot wronger.
Having your mum watch you get your nipples eaten by a lapdancer... WTholyF?

The parents are all very weird. The dad who got really upset by his son wearing a tutu and nail varnish was funny though!

Portofino · 17/01/2011 10:34

I think it is atrocious! I saw it last week. These are adults - they are entitled to not have their parents spying on them.

Blu · 17/01/2011 10:40

Deeply unethical.
I watched it last week (god knows why) and thought it a major breach of privacy and trust.
One of the friends of the boy looked very very unhappy. I was amazed the 'children' looked so happy and pleased to see their parents. They had been lied to, tricked and betrayed.

Also, it was all about the parents insecurity and inability to let go - why should the tenagers have their privacy invaded in order to deal with parents' issues?

UnquietDad · 17/01/2011 10:42

What's the premise of this show?

Blu · 17/01/2011 11:11

Parents who don't trust their kids (age 18 / 19) or feel anxious about them leaving home to go to Uni and don't think they can manage away from the family agree to send thier children on a holiday to ibiza (the week I saw it) with a couple of friends.

Unknown to the teens they are tracked, recorded and filmed throughout the hol, with the parents watching. Sometimes the parents hide in the VIP lounge in a club, or in the storecupbaord of the tattoo parlour while dd gets a tattoo. They watch them snogging in clubs, even get into the hotel room and pick thorugh their stuff.

Then on the last day, da DAAA, they are revealed and spend the last night on the hol with their kids and the friends. In Ibiza the reveal took place in a lapdancing club. ("That's my boy" said the father).

Then the parents chuckle about their drinken exploits and admit that they were wrong and the kids are just like they were and quite responsible. In the Mum and her cousin's case, the mother was equally keen to go clubbing and get bladdered on vodka as her tattooed dd.

For a bit of extra voyeuristic interest they take the parents off for a day to do something cultural - wine tasting, which one couple appreciate in a thoroughly naice way and the other makes faces, looks bored and dream wisfully of a Long Slow Screw up Aganst the Wall. The cousin in this outfit was notably too ill to film on the last day.

CrawlingInMySkin · 17/01/2011 12:02

OMG that sounds awful I haven't seen it but it sounds really bad like a total invasian of privacy.

UnquietDad · 17/01/2011 13:14

They should have said to the kids it was "just like Big Brother".

sailorsgal · 17/01/2011 21:04

OMG when the parents walked in on their son having a lapdance was just not funny at all. His mates didn't were not amused.

This will be me though in a few years time. Grin

cathyed · 19/01/2011 18:53

My son is off to Kavos in July and he told me about the programme, have decided not to watch would not want my kids spying on me why should parents feels this is ok??

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2011 12:05

they know they are being filmed - just not that parents are 2 feet away watching

so in all honesty they arent going to do anything that outrageous iyswim coz the know its for a tv programme

last nights with the lad who was wheeled out of airport on trolley pissed out of his face and had pissed his self and then puked on the floor and so out of it that local taxi's refused to take them to their hotel - his parents must be so proud Hmm

DukesOfTripHazard · 21/01/2011 17:29

It's wrong, wrong, wrong. What a horrible thing to do to your child. Couldn't switch it off and felt dirty afterwards.

oxocube · 21/01/2011 19:31

Sounds vile

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 22/01/2011 08:31

Am totslly cringing just READING about this show..

sincitylover · 22/01/2011 22:52

we watched and i thought it was horrible - the boy who puked was called Ben D'Arcy (that was his first name - snigger - sounded like bend arsey - who in their right might would call someone that!!)

Also his mate, the main subject of the film, was right skank - minesweeping - drinking leftover drinks in nightclubs and falling out with his mates. After they stopped filming he dived into the shallow end from his balcony and broke a vertebrae. His dad actually seemed proud of his exploits prior to that.

The only value of it was to demonstrate to ds1 (who was watching with me) how not to behave on holiday.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 12:11

he was lucky not to be paralyzed and yes ben's parents must be so proud after watching him NOT

most of us have got drunk and been sick as teenagers ,though i have never passed out and pissed myself

Rubyonthetown · 24/01/2011 15:29

I saw some of this last week. Weirdy voyeuristic parents.

Yuk.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2011 21:01

Also makes me laugh how the 4 parents watch their kids on a tiny screen sharing ear phones and binoculars - can they buy 4 pairs and a bigger screen Grin

Normantebbit · 01/02/2011 21:03

It's a bloody disgrace. It's none of their parents business.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2011 21:09

It is invasion of their privacy but they are happy to be filmed so whatever they do/however they behave they know that their parents will see it one day iyswim
