Not really impressed. I laughed weakly a few times. I love Tamsin G and wossisname.
These torturous co-pros just feel like everyone's trying to hard and that it's all too shiny looking and the comedy's got lost in all that prettification. It just doesn't work well enough.
Maybe it will get better.

Feel the same, who was the actress who played the blonde American head of comedy?

Longstocking2 · 10/01/2011 22:44

She's a Brit, don't know her name but she's very good.

DH loved it, but I thought it was a bit painful.

Longstocking2 · 10/01/2011 22:50

It might get better, I may give it another chance, I do love TG and SM.
And that Brit with those teeth!

I thought the audition scenes were painful, but they were supposed to be.

I thought it was a good start. Not laugh out loud funny but it definitely held the attention. And we haven't seen Matt Le Blanc do anything yet. I'll be watching next week.

Hassled · 10/01/2011 22:52

It was all a bit odd, wasn't it? Funnyish, but no more than that. I do love Tamsin Whatsit. I'll stick with it - I think it's the sort of series that will develop nicely.

Cyb · 10/01/2011 23:03

I liked it

But then I loved Green Wing

And Matt Leblanc as a silver fox? Whats not to like?

Guacamole · 10/01/2011 23:05

Missed it... Poo!
I'll have to iplayer it... I love Green Wing!

squeaver · 10/01/2011 23:07

Thought the Yanks were better than the Brits esp the Head of Comedy woman - show-stealer.

Brits' hair was too glossy. Think it'll get better when Matt Le Blanc is in it (and, btw, phwoar!)

SixtyFootDoll · 10/01/2011 23:08

bugger i wanted to watch this

Icoulddoitbetter · 10/01/2011 23:15

Head of Comedy is Daisy Haggard, brit actress from Psychoville and Man Stroke Woman.

Never fancied Matt Le Blanc in Friends but may be converted now!!!!

Longstocking2 · 11/01/2011 09:33

he has lost a ton of weight bless his cotton socks!
That's all his own hair isn't it?
I will give it another chance but I do think telly programmes which aim to please both sides of the atlantic are almost always doomed. they just smell of a committee making every decision.

DH and I quite enjoyed it, will watch again, and hope it improves, as it was a little weird last night. Thought Daisy Haggard stole the show though, she was hilarious. And Matt LeBlanc looks yummy now :)

Longstocking2 · 11/01/2011 09:41

She was wonderful, she does unique things with her face and manages an amazing range as well. I love her.

I can't get over the fact that Tamsin Greig is like a poor man's Emma Thompson. She got on my wick. It was ok, nothing special. Maybe next week's will pick up a bit.

twirlymum · 13/01/2011 23:11

Richard Griffiths always makes me think of Daddy Pig.

jennymac · 14/01/2011 08:23

I didn't mind it. Didn't make me laugh or anything but didn't annoy me either. Agree with comments about Matt LeBlanc - way cuter now! Definitely going to watch next week for him!

mrsoliverramsay · 14/01/2011 10:13

I quite liked it and Matt Le Blanc definetely looks much better nowadays

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 14/01/2011 23:30

So glad there's a thread about this. I watched it, really excited (another Green Wing lover), and could barely muster a smile.

It's so obviously TV for people who work in TV. One of the first lines was something like "...and a week in post", and there was other jargon all the way through. Really annoyed me, and I am familiar with that world.

Not funny. Next.

And I missed Julian Rhind Tutt. The least attractive man to ever have me slavering over the screen.

wintera · 15/01/2011 09:12

I enjoyed it on the whole. Liked the bit about waiting ages for the bath to fill up. But surely it was an outdated view of American tv? I mean we have shows like the American Office nowadays. At the moment American tv is so strong and well done, that their experience just didn't ring true to me.

CeliaFate · 17/01/2011 23:14

What did you think of tonight's? I thought it got a lot better, although I wasn't overly impressed. I did roar with laughter at the massive, swearing rant she did at the end though, proving that although swearing is neither big nor clever it is funny!

wigglesrock · 18/01/2011 13:41

Oh I loved it, wasn't expecting too, Mr Wiggles has been looking forward to it, and I usually MN when he picks tv shows but I thought it was really funny and I'm not a big comedy fan Smile Loved the bath bit, the changing of Matt Le Blancs character to the "coach" very well written bit.

edpen · 18/01/2011 13:50

I loved it and so did my DH. Thought it was very tightly written and very very funny.
