... what a great programme. Catching up on some from Sky Box (Dh been into for a while).

Anyone else care to join me in some appreciation of this Swedish masterpiece?

We love it, dh lived in Sweden for some years so he feels quite nostalgic about it. Which version are you watching - the older versions of the Mankell books or the newer versions (with the red haired Wallander)? I've heard there won't be any more filmed now Linda is gone (so sad).

Which one? the Swedish one or the Kenneth Branagh version?

MinnieMummy · 08/01/2011 22:48

I've just finished watching the first Swedish series (note to self: never move to Ystad Grin) ? don't quite understand why BBC4 skipped to the third series.
Love it, although I feel so sad about the actress who played Linda Sad

the red haired wallander. i've just googled linda and i don't think it was the first series i'm watching. i think must be the third series.

although must admit, i have to concentrate each episode, or i get confused as to who is who in order that i can guess who did it!

dh and I recently discovered the Krister Henriksson version, the first series was brilliant, the 2nd less so. Can't get on with the new chap though.

Ah, now I prefer the Krister Henriksson versions which is funny as these were the stories not even created by Mankell. The first Wallander was Rolf someone (on phone so can't check the name - but the bigger blonde guy) - In fairness I think he's closer to the Wallander of the books.

I didn't much like the last series with Pontus and isabelle though - I think with Linda gone it just lacked depth.

ProfYaffle · 09/01/2011 12:42

Yes, it's the series with Pontus and Isabelle that we saw first. We enjoyed it but thought it was a bit formulaic. Then we saw repeats of the first series and realised how superior it was.

aha, i'm going to need to get the first series now then, for a comparison!
