Tears for Fears wouldn't do it. Not sure why.

sharbie · 26/12/2010 23:19

they did the run the world thing though - there was someone who objected to the whole cause/event iirc

atswimtwolengths · 26/12/2010 23:20

Ooh I remember that rumour, too!

was it new order, depeche mode or frankie

UnquietDad · 26/12/2010 23:27

I didn't realise they moved the whole date for Springsteen and then didn't get him...!

FrustratedHippy · 26/12/2010 23:43

sniffs

atswimtwolengths · 26/12/2010 23:44

They did get him, UnquietDad - he sang Born In the USA I think and definitely paid for the Philadelphia stage.

(I love that man! Springsteen, not you, UnquietDad, don't panic!)

I am thinking Depeche Mode were the absent ones .....maybe Dave was not in a good way

BitOfFun · 26/12/2010 23:49

That Bob/Harvey thing was atrocious Grin

I was howling laughing. The actor playing Geldorf only had one expression- that of a stroppy nine year old who's just been told the plug's been cut off his X-box. The whole thing looked like a peculiarly humour-free episode of Star Stories.

sharbie · 26/12/2010 23:51

it was that exactly and i couldn't recognize any of the other musicians in it - were there any??
apart from adam ants shoe

I liked it, but thought Marsha's hairstyles were far too modern. No one had scrunchies in 1985!

UnquietDad · 27/12/2010 00:05

My memory may be playing tricks, but every source I can find states that Springsteen declined, for a variety of reasons...

FrustratedHippy · 27/12/2010 00:06

seemed to be a lot of actors minus equity cards!

FrustratedHippy · 27/12/2010 00:08

bring back Alison Moyet!

atswimtwolengths · 27/12/2010 00:20

You're right, I'm sorry, Unquiet Dad - I'm thinking of We are the world - the American equivalent.
