I have a massive unexplained weird crush on him.

Only saw the last few minutes but I totally agree. Surely the crush is because he is intelligent, funny, doesn't take himself seriously and is quite cute?

was it a repeat? He was hilarious when he was on a while ago and doing his 'Mothers of Britain' appeal to camera

I'd only heard his (rather twee) music. Then he guested when Amstell was hosting and he was a revelation.
I taped the show last night and when I put it on this morning I saw his face and squeeed like a teenager.

I even like his music now.

Oh missed that. I don't know a lot about except for the Polar Express song, which I do like at christmas.
Is he coming from the same place as Michael Bolton?

Noooooo! No comparison to Bolton. He's classically trained and has a beautiful voice.
Youtube him singing 'Holy Night' at the Rockefeller Centre (Xmas appropriate).

He started mainstreaming when he appeared as a bar singer in Ally McBeal years ago. I never saw it at the time but apparently he was such a hit that he was re-invited on the show and launched his pop career from that.

I'm afraid I don't know his music apart from 'Wind beneath My Wings,' but might be looking into it now .

Michael Ball gave a stirling effort at the end but I think he was outclassed.

Never heard of him before but I thought he was fab, I have a mahooosive crush on him now and am off to you tube him until my computer explodes!

I bought his CD on the strength of his appearance on Buzzcocks. Well, as a Mother of Britain I had to, whatever he said.

WWWY, he did NOT cover Wind Beneath Your Wings!! However, you may be thinking of You Raise Me Up, heavily sent up by himself on NMTB when he was a guest - I think Phil literally raised Simon Amstell onto his shoulders and tottered around the studio.
Was better as a guest, Imho, but still v funny.
