Vampire Diaries - why isn't it on tonight?

Where has it gone? What is happening?

In the US the shows often have a winter break mid series for some reason, so if they are airing at the same time over here then we also get a break. Next episode is set to air in the states at the end of January so we will not get it until after that, same with series like Fringe and Gossip Girl.
