and the worst thing was they didnt even get what was in the chest after the 3+hrs they spent doing it lol

clam · 28/11/2010 08:59

It's a shame because in other circumstances it would have been a hilarious task.

mrsruffallo · 28/11/2010 13:13

I would have3 an attitude towards Gillian by now.
She is a skilled manipulator though, doing the poor me bit now.

Rindercella · 28/11/2010 14:41

"Shaun did go into that task with an attitude towards Gillian " But he's had to live the best part of 2 weeks with her, 24/7. Poor bastard Grin

Gillian is a manipulating bitch. As soon as she got back she started on about Shaun to the two youngest camp members - Stacey and Aggro - probably hoping that they would be naive enough to believe her. She soon went quiet when the both stuck up for Shaun though. I have to say that it's amazing last night was the first time anyone has actually told her to fuck off - I would have done it on day 1!

I think the editors are doing a great job - showing enough of the others being really bloody entertaining (loving the spy mission) without having to resort to showing too much of Gillian.

Cyb, am with you on the final 4. I think Shaun and Stacey will be the final 2.

pagwatch · 28/11/2010 14:55

She really seems to struggle with anyone who challenges her - at all

I am really enjoying jenni. When Gillian was getting all victimy about shaun swearing her reply ... ' well you are going to have to get a thicker skin,we are not little 10 year old girls and we have to recognise that we are all under pressure...'

It is very similar to a schoolyard bully, especially the swift change to victimhood if confronted.

I felt uncomfortable when doom said he wouldn't help her but I liked that he admitted afterwards to feeling bad about it. We can all be a bit shitty in the moment. It is nice to see someone admit afterwards that perhaps they behaved in a way that, on reflection , they would not if given the same situation again.

clam · 28/11/2010 15:41

Agree, Pagwatch, partic about Dom. (I still heart him!)

I have a SIL someone I know who is similar. Very good at dishing it out with little regard to how others are feeling, but overly sensitive to any perceived slight.

I thought it was very telling how Gillian said the other day, "When am I going to get any consideration?" Like she hadn't been completely dominating the whole proceedings up until then with self, self, self.

5Foot5 · 28/11/2010 17:51

Jeezypeeps "If she'd been there with, say, Sheryl then she would have performed much better as Sheryl knew how to deal with her."

But there's the thing - why should people be expected to know how to "deal" with her.

I can't stand the sort of people who are so self centred that other people end up walking on eggshells around them so as not to upset them.

She's 50 something not 5 FGS.

5Foot5 · 28/11/2010 17:54

The best bit of the night though was the whole sequence of Stacy trying to get Dom's attention and then hitting him in the eye with that stone!

And her comment afterwards about "Mr Intelligent here asking me if I wanted shampoo!"

I agree with previous poster the Dom, Stacey, Jennu and Shaun group are the most fun.

And I am in the Dom fan club too!!

JeezyPeeps · 28/11/2010 19:43

Just for the record:

I stated I don't like her.

I stated that I probably would have gone in with the same attitude as Shaun.

But 5foot5, I actually don't see any issue with knowing how to deal with people. It's actually a real skill that gets real results. And knowing how to deal with someone isn't (as you seem to think) walking on eggshells around them - thats pandering to them which is something entirely different.

An example - I don't handle my ex well. he rants about politics and crap and I just shut off. His mate on the other hand does a genius job of steering him away from rant mode and on to what can be quite an interesting discussion.

In terms of Celeb - when Cheryl and Gillian were doing the joint trial, Cheryl managed to calm her and encouraged her and she came away with many more stars than she would have done otherwise. Similarly with Dom and the underwater trial. They weren't walking on eggshells - Dom was saying 'why are you screaming?'. If Shaun had handled her better then retrieving the chest would have been quicker and less stressful.

Having said that - the way they treat her is similar to the way you would treat a child. And it is pathetic that a 50 year old needs to be treated in that manner.

I think I'll bow out of this discussion though, as I can't be bothered to take a defensive stance on what was merely an observation rather than an opinion!

5Foot5 · 28/11/2010 19:56

JeezyPeeps - sorry if it sounded like I was attacking your POV - that wasn't how it was meant to come across.

I understand your comments about dealing with people and agree that it is a useful skill. It is just that I find annoying the sort of people who have to be "dealt" with in a special way. I think there is a difference between good people management and feeling that you have to treat someone like an unexploded bomb.

Anyway - once again, sorry if my post made you feel you had to go on the defiensive. it wasn't meant like that Smile
