How dare she get older eh? I assume you are an oil painting?
I have nothing against her looks. It's the squeaky voice that gets me. And yes, I do posess dulcet tones.

scattercushion · 08/11/2010 10:54

the eye makeup doesn't help either. Her smile is somewhat desperate too - I think she knows she's looking a bit raddled.

ColdComfortFarm · 08/11/2010 10:55

I thought you were talking about the Sarah-Jane Adventures and was about to shriek 'but she's 60!' and go all defensive. I'd forgotten about the other S-J. Does she still wear pigtails?

twirlymum · 08/11/2010 10:58

Just goes to prove that skinny people age faster. That's my main reason for not dieting, anyway Wink

Unprune · 08/11/2010 10:59

WTF???? Hmm

Are you saying she can't entertain children because she has some wrinkles? DO you realise how utterly mad that sounds?

ColdComfortFarm · 08/11/2010 11:01

I admit being amazed that there is a perception that children will only watch adults in their 20s. In my day it was all Valerie Singleton and Tony Hart and Brian Cant, all very much adults in sensible shoes, not psuedo-infants in their 20s.

FairyArmadillo · 08/11/2010 11:10

My 2 year old loves Auntie Mabel. I'm sure she's much older than Sarah-Jane.

DelGirl · 08/11/2010 11:15

misdee Shock, wash your mouth out Wink

TaudrieTattoo · 08/11/2010 11:17

I think it's the fact that she still dresses like a toddler that jars a bit. And speaks, acts and styles her hair like one.

The other SJ looks wonderful, though.

sethstarkaddersmum · 08/11/2010 11:20

then she could sue them for sex discrimination, unless they're going to sack Justin too, given that he's 4 years older than her.
Women, do not age!

wonderstuff · 08/11/2010 11:21

But its not the fact that she is getting old, its the fact that she is getting old but plying on the war paint and wearing silly bunches - there is just a certain age when you can't do bunches and heavy eye make up anymore.

I did prefer her when she was miming - but DD LOVES mighty mites..

loonyrationalist · 08/11/2010 11:27

Normally I am for anything that would get Sarah Jane off our screens, she is too iritating, chirpy & squeaky yes but too saying she is too old is ridiculous.

FairyArmadillo my dd2 thinks that Aunty Mabel & Pippin are the best thing on cbeebies too :) I'm recording them like mad as I'm afraid they will dissapear soon; DH calls it antiquated (commenting on the early 90's feel not Aunty I hasten to add) I prefer to think the BBC have got their money's worth ;)

misdee · 08/11/2010 11:46

i think it might be the eyeliner and the pigtails. Wink

plus i caught an episode of heiggeldy house from yeeeears ago just the other day. and thought 'wow she has aged overnight' when i switched this on.

but then searched and she has done soemthing like 100 episodes of higgedly house.

why doesnt Justin look like he has aged at all? does he have some secret that women dont know about. hrrrmph!

misdee · 08/11/2010 11:53

and is the other sarah Jane really 60? blimey, she looks good for 60!

love the sarah jane adventures. most toddler tv presenters scare the cr*p out of me with how bouncey they are. especially after a sleep deprived night and i give in at 6am and switch on cbeebies.

OP posts:
sethstarkaddersmum · 08/11/2010 11:54

ah there must be a portrait of Justin hidden somewhere in the attic of Higgledy House which is ageing dreadfully, Dorian Gray style....

misdee · 08/11/2010 11:56

lol; seth. i think so as well.

and chris as well from cbeebies. he doesnt age either.

I don't give a flying monkey's left testicle what age she looks. Wash that muck off your face, comb your hair into an adult style and desist prancing. Now.

EdgarAirbombPoe · 08/11/2010 12:01

i think this thread is sexist.

who gives a flying toss whether she looks old or not.

there have been far too many women sacked for being 'old' 'fat' etc in ways that a man would get away with.

misdee · 08/11/2010 12:04

i'd asy the same about pc plum, justin etc as well.

OP posts:
piprabbit · 08/11/2010 12:10

I have no problem with women of all ages presenting children's TV, in fact any TV.

But I do think S-J's special 'Super-hero' eye make-up on Might Mites was a huge mistake here.

piprabbit · 08/11/2010 12:12

Perhaps OP's title should have read odd instead of old?

misdee · 08/11/2010 12:14

maybe. i just thought she was getting older.

but been goggling, and will say sorryto Miss/Mrs Sarah-jane honeywell because she loo9ks nothing like the MM series. sorry SJ.

MollieO · 08/11/2010 22:23

Bloody hell Sarah Jane (the Adventures one) is 62! She looks fantastic. I've seen her in RL and she looked amazing too, so not just tv make up. I'd be happy to look like that at 52.

Iamanonymous - the people 'complaining' were doing it over two years ago, and some of them are no longer on Mumsnet...
