Anyone else got octonaut obsessed children?

If I see that snapping shrimp episode one more time I fear I may sustain permanent brain damage.

DD obsessed, has been since she saw the trailer. I work with children and they are all obsessed.
Shame that there are no toys or that'd be the shopping sorted Grin

FairyArmadillo · 02/11/2010 17:43

I know. Checked online for DVDs at the weekend. They haven't released one yet. We love the octonauts but I hope they make some new episodes soon.

bumpybecky · 02/11/2010 17:47

ds (2.10) is obsessed too! he watched on the iplayer online while watching on tv.....

he's learnt how to use the mouse on the pc so he can play them by himself!

SuePurblybilt · 02/11/2010 18:38

Good news is that when I checked online last month it was no to toys for a long while. Checked today and it seems Fisher Price are working on it. I doubt if they will in time for Christmas - or could they be this years BUzz?

Brollyflower · 02/11/2010 20:02

There are books. Amazon have them and there are things you can print out from the meomi website for them to colour in Smile.

On every day in this house. Fave episode at the moment for my son is 'enemy anenomes'.

My husband is just as bad - he's desperate to buy an Octopod.

maniacbug · 02/11/2010 21:43

God, another bunch of obsessees here. At least I get to be Professor Inkling in the daily reenactments so can assign 'missions' such as putting clothes in laundry basket and tidying up the sticklebricks. Surprisingly effective.

PrincessBoo · 02/11/2010 21:47

Oh nice one maniac will try that one tomorrow!

openerofjars · 02/11/2010 21:50

Oh, DS is 2 next week and we looooooove them! But what is with the root vegetable pets/servants? Weird.

Plus, someone gag the cat.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 02/11/2010 21:53

ds 4.5 totally obsessed too. wants to see it every day, happily spends his whole hour of "tv time" watching it on iplayer, over and over again.

very bizarre mix of accents, very multi-cultural octopod crew!

Have you all seen this site?

i think its an underwater star trek, esp with the multi cultural crew.

SilverBrumby · 03/11/2010 21:10

My boys (4 and 2) adore it. My youngest can't really speak but can ask for the Giant Squid episode. Can't be harmful then...Love the music too. I console myself that when it is on (almost) continuous (taped) loop at least it is educational! (Marine consultants in the credits make me feel less guilty about how many times I have put it on recently).

SuePurblybilt · 04/11/2010 17:51

It's very educational. Ask DD about filter feeders, camouflage, symbiosis, algae, pollution and get the full Octonauts spiel. She has a special seaside book for identification when she's watching Grin.

PatriciaHolm · 04/11/2010 18:00

Mine love it! And now know all about anemones, symbiotics, etc - as Sue says. I must look out for the books!

minigoof · 06/11/2010 23:56

Yes, small obssessed boy on my hands! He now insists on being called 'Peso' & has taken to carrying our first aid kit with him everywhere, daddy has been re-christened 'Shellington'! I feel a trip to the auqarium coming on!
