This is the latest instalment of one of British television's most riveting and enduring documentary series. What started as 7 Up, an episode of World in Action in 1964 focusing on the hopes and dreams of a handful of children from different cultural and class backgrounds, has grown over the years to become not just an important social document, but a fine piece of human drama. During the years some of the participants have dropped out, but this new two-part programme, which concludes next Thursday, promises that more of the original 7 Ups are taking part than ever before. Anyone who's followed the series will probably have their own favourites, while some of the group are simply indelibly etched on all our minds.
