I've admired him since I was 5. I had such a kid-crush on him. He seems to have such integrity and ability.
He's on BBC2 now in a biographical thing and dh and I are a bit emotional.

DH and I know Richard Fortey and he is exactly like he comes across on that prog. He is just so interested in everything!

I mean, how can you just fall into the job of being controller of a tv channel and then become a fabulously knowledgeable tv presenter and be such a lovely person?
Sigh.

Us too.

If I was Mrs Attenborough, I would be very proud of my sons.

Mrs Dimbelby too.

I used to be allowed to stay up to watch Life on Earth.

Another Attenborough fan here. Still wide-eyed in wonder after all these years. A man of rare integrity

Allegedly he's a right bastard.

Just to piss on your parade Grin

Oh I;ve heard the opposite! An old colleague used to go there for family Christmases (his dad and DA were friends) and said he was absolutely lovely.

You could see on the programme last night that he could probably, at times, be high maintenance, but the much younger guy who was his foil was more than up to the job - at least on camera, who knows about off-camera?
