Winkleman on Film 2010

Anybody catch this?

I like Claudia but her ditzy image and 'just got out of bed' eye make-up is all wrong for a Film review programme.

I can't imagine any big stars being sensibly interviewed by her. It's the wrong programme for her.

But who would you get to replace her? . . .

Umm. I like Mark too but I don't think he'd be right either. He can get a bit bolshy at times and go on one of his rants.

There a bit of a gap isn't there - no personable, knowledgeable, sensible youngish presenters.

Love him or hate him, J Ross certainly knew his stuff when it came to films

southeastastralbeing · 14/10/2010 18:07

well he's just done that bbcfour series on the horror genre and he certainly has an interest and knowledge

squeaver · 14/10/2010 20:36

I thought she was ok actually. But she needs to talk much more slowly (as does the other bloke). I thought it was a nice direction to take what's quite a tired format.

Also, I think she does know about films.

Eliza70 · 15/10/2010 16:10

Jonathan Ross was terrible! He was such as asskisser - he always LOVED the films.

Have not watched Claudia yet, but am not optimistic. Saw some pics of her in a mag and she looked like an oompa loompa she was so orange...

Fannyanny · 15/10/2010 16:33

Feel I must stick up for Claudia as she is my favourite tv talky-type person. She is fab on Strictly ITT but due to the wonderfully shallow glitziness of that show she doesn't get to show her more knowledgeable and "grown-up" side. This she can do on Film 2010. She has more than demonstrated her love of things cultural and ability to talk about them in an accessible way on her arts show on Radio 2. More importantly though, she really makes me laugh. Although Jonathan Ross was hilarious on the radio, I too found him a bit too obsequious when interviewing "stars" on telly. Claudia is a much better, more self-deprecating interviewer. More power to your elbow Winklewoman. Plus, it's only been one programme. Think she will grow on people.

jonicomelately · 15/10/2010 16:35

I didn't like it and the other contributers were awful.

Fannyanny · 15/10/2010 18:09

Wow so much negativity! Admit CW was a tad orange though - bit distracting..

southeastastralbeing · 15/10/2010 18:15

i must admit to not watching her on it, but rarely go to the cinema at all now. and i am a massive film fan, just not the shite they seem to churn out now.

maybe they just want a fluffy presenter to represent the industry now.

squeaver · 15/10/2010 18:27

Honestly, she's not fluffy. She's not Fearne Cotton or Holly Willoghby. She's good.

And SEA - haven't you seen Inception?

southeastastralbeing · 15/10/2010 18:30

ooh no i admit that did sound good, dp wasn't keen Hmm

squeaver · 15/10/2010 20:44

You MUST see it. You and your dp will talk about nothing else for hours, if not days.

southeastastralbeing · 15/10/2010 20:47

ooh good, will try and catch it then!

Fannyanny · 15/10/2010 21:32

Am all for films which promote argument discussion with DHWink. Will also make effort to see it. And report back...

Fannyanny · 15/10/2010 21:34

Ha! That should read argument discussion. Am new here. Does it show? Blush

Unprune · 15/10/2010 21:38

Is this true? That's really sad. I never liked JR much on the show but at least he had a background in loving film. She's just a by-the-hour presenter!

Fannyanny · 15/10/2010 22:35

Noooo! Don't agree. Think Claudia loves film too - just not in such an obsessive way. Find her easier to relate to and would trust her judgement more on a film.
