Anyone got any theories about Red John? New series starts soon.

Afraid not.

Too busy drooling over SB to take in much of the plot

After the end of the last series I wondered if red john was the psychic (sp) woman.

I was convinced that RJ was Minelli/Manelli (?) but he is not on it anymore and every Mentalist board I read seemed to suggest the same thing then shoot it down. Then again, these things usually end up with the baddie being someone we have seen

What if it is Patrick Jane? In some kind of psychotic state??
Did wonder about Lisbon too...

i will be much dissapointed if it is no-one we have seen before - if we ever get to find out, i mean it has been the constant sub plot

have to say tho....isn't detective Cho funny as fuck!

He gets all the best lines too, Custardo. I wish I had hair like Grace....

I love this programme.
In fact, if SB wasn't happily married and living in Australia/LA or where ever, I think I could easily stalk him. He is so gorgeous....swoon.

When does the new series start?

Just got the box set, do I have to watch it all before tomorrow??!!

Got my first date in 8 years tomorrow night - and he is 18 years younger than me. Now I'd rather stay in for The Mentalist! How sad is that!!

It is possible that RJ is the pyschic woman but that's only because she's the only regular character for whom it wouldn't be utterly ridiculous.

The slight flaw in this plan is that I recall RJ dated a blind woman in one episode and presumably, whilst she was blind, she would have probably realised in other ways if RJ wasn't a guy...!

And its someone with access to the police station and jail. There was that police secretary who was working for RJ and he had killed in jail on her way to the cell.

It was when he was all wrapped in clingfilm and red John killed the psycho teenagers and came up behind him. It was so feminine... But on the other hand I could be well wrong.

There's a plot?!

Am so busy drooling over SB and his waistcoats and his frankly gorgeous smile that I hadn't noticed!

And yes, Cho is fantastic. One of my favourite TV characters ever.

SB's smile is amazing!

What I do like though, is that edge he has to his character - he is so smooth and smiling and charming to everyone and you just know that he could go off the deep end in a big way. I love those tiny glimpses you get into that ruthlessness and rage just below the surface when he's talking about Red John.

I think the PJ character adds to SB's appeal though. He didn't seem quite so gorgeous in The Devil Wears Prada somehow, still fit but not mentalist-fit iykwim?

Caught a few episodes of The Guardian when channel-hopping - made when he was a few years younger and he just didn't have the same appeal at all. The character is a huge part of the appeal.

I love cho as well! I've only seen first two serieses. I hadn't thought that rj migh be might be that psychic woman.

hmmm, but remember red john stayed with a blind woman. patrick jane then went to see her, and he'd drawn that red face on the wall of her bedroom, which the blind woman couldn't see, but PJ saw it. And knew he was supposed to find it. But that would seem to suggest that they can't make Red John a woman now.
