havnt seen tonights yet but is it the one where the skipper dies :(

DiscoDaisy · 05/10/2010 23:47

From the bits I watched Phil fell out with one of his sons and then at the end was being taken off to hospital with a suspected stroke.

nelliesmum · 05/10/2010 23:51

I LOVE this programme, but mainly because of Phil. What will we do without him?

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 13:43

MrsWicket · 07/10/2010 13:58

Spookyoldclothcatpuss · 07/10/2010 16:16

I livefor love Dealdiest Catch. It's brilliant! I watched this series a while back, so know what's coming. Keep watching! I think Phil is amazing. It won't Be the same without him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 16:41

i thought it was new, im not going mad, could have sworn that i had seen a skipper die and thought it was phil

im not going mad - am i ........?

Spookyoldclothcatpuss · 07/10/2010 16:56

You're not mad! It was shown in America a while back

PlumBumMum · 07/10/2010 17:03

Phil is our fav too

but Mrswicket best you don't watch anymore

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 18:05

the men really risk their lives :(

springlamb · 09/10/2010 13:39

Been tearful at the end of the last 2 episodes!
Very sad about Phil.

And Jonathan retiring? If there was a competition 'win a week on a Deadliest Catch boat', I would definitely pick the Time Wizard, they are a load of loonies.
Was a time I'd have picked the Northwestern but I've gone off Edgar now...

springlamb · 09/10/2010 13:41

And also, why do I find it impossible to feel any emotion about British fishermen in Trawler Wars? I certainly don't like the abundance of the 'f' word although I'm very prone to a good swear myself.

Pumpkinbummum · 10/10/2010 12:34

Springlamb totally agree with everything you say, I love the time bandit too, The Northwestern is no fun at all!

CountessVonKnackerstein · 10/10/2010 12:43

I think it's Tuesdays episode where Phil dies Sad me and DH love this programme too.
What happened with Discovery suing three skippers last year?

springlamb · 10/10/2010 16:40

But the Northwestern was fun until Edgar got old and crotchetty with his back.
Countess, the producers were going to sue the Hillstrands and Sig because there was going to be a spin-off show but the Hillies hadn't shown up for the voiceovers etc but it was all resolved.
I've also tried to get into Lobstermen and the swordfishing one but I just couldn't summon any interest in the characters, I felt more empathy for the lobsters.
It's very odd as I have never been anywhere near a fishing boat in my life. Although I did go to Alaska in the summer but the dc wanted to go bear-watching rather than do the Deadliest Catch excursion.

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 10/10/2010 16:56

Tis hard watching even tho it was all reported at the time, accident was Jan 31st 2010.

I see Jake did rehab for pain pills & booze addictions but recently had a car accident while intoxicated :(

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 10/10/2010 17:05

I can soo feel for Phil & Edgar with their backs tho the smoking [smoking], i thought it very poignant earlier when Phil was talking about how he had lived hard and his time was coming up :(

Pumpkinbummum · 10/10/2010 18:30

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch I thought that too especially looking at the photos with the boys,
thought that should bring some comfort to Jake as I was a bit panic striken he would have stroke after the arguement and the last thing he would remember was argueing(sp) with him

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 10/10/2010 21:14

Yes, agreed Pumpkinbummum it would have been so much harder for Jake.

I know that Phil has had major health problems for several years but it was like he know how near the finish line he was that week.

Pumpkinbummum · 12/10/2010 23:28

Oh God another week, although I am surprised how well Phil can talk after a major stroke

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 13/10/2010 03:05

I know Pumpkinbm, Great to see Jonathan meeting Josh.
