Did anyone watch Inspector Banks last night?

I was looking forward to it having read quite a few of Peter Robinson's books. But found myself fairly underwhelmed by it. Stephen Tompkinson was not really my idea of Banks, and I didn't find his relationship with Annie portrayed very convincingly.

Did anyone else watch? - I'll probably watch the second half of this story, but not sure if I'll tune in in future.

I did!
I've read all the books too,and agree Stephen Tomkinson not right, nor was Annie.
In the books she's a brunette from Cornwall, not a blonde from Leeds!!
Also the storyline had changed, don't remember Payne sleeping with Maggie in the book.
Don't understand why they started with 'Aftermath' tbh.
Unless it is for its 'shock' factor.

Yes Georgina - I thought it was an odd one to start with, maybe they've dismissed Banks' earlier life because the books cover too wide an age span for him. I have a feeling they might use some of the earlier stories plot with later characters. I agree Annie was not how I imagined.

It annoyed me - I have just finished the last of his books and have them all

Tompkinson was not my idea of Banks (not sure who should play him - any ideas anyone)

And yes, Annie is a Brunette who wears red boots, not white Uggs!!!!

Winsome in the books is from the Carribean originally and is six foot one tall!! Annie had met Banks long before AfterMath.

I thought there was a hint of Maggie having slept with Payne last night - wasnt' there a flashback showing her in bed and him just leaving?

The book was too long to go into just two episodes.

John Simm?....too young maybe, but ralistically northern, albeit wrong side of Pennines.
Although actually Banks is from Peterborough....
David Morrisey?
Philip Glenister Grin forever Gene though now!
Actually, the girl who played John Sims' girlfriend in LOM ,also called Annie, would have been good....

John Simm does angst very well, and is a wiry type - more my idea of Banks but a bit young maybe), I have a feeling David Morrisey is going to be Inspector Tom Thorne in a TV adaptation of Mark Billingham's books - I think he will be be quite well suited to that part.

yes i watched this too and it was ok if you forget that Tompkinson is too gentle for the role of Banks.

I watched this and absolutely loved every minute of it, however I have not read the books so maybe that is why.
