Holby city - acid in the face.

anyone else really disturbed by the scene that unfolded on the last episode, and also the security guards explanation of it? these 'initiations' gangs have prey on the innocent - the more innocent the better - so the poor timid pretty doctor gets acid chucked in her face. wtf has society come to where a young man feels the only way he can amount to anything in life is to harm an innocent bystander in order to be 'made' within a gang? also makes me quite sick to think that they would seek out someone innocent looking to do this to as a show of bravado - how long before a child gets the acid? sick sick sick.

I agree, it was shown way too early aswell.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2010 13:17

think watershed is 8pm so was after that

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 25/09/2010 13:18

It shocked me, i' normally quite good at seeing things coming but didnt see that.

alannabanana · 25/09/2010 13:52

i didn't see it coming either, and felt really sorry for that doctor who had come from 'bad experience' in manchester - i guess that was the point. that actress was great at the end, she just looked numbed by what had happened, completely sad beyond words. i've read about stuff like this happening, typically to pretty girls who've done nothing wrong except to be spotted by these dispicable people. really scary stuff.

I didn't see it coming either. I had to try and explain why and what would happen to her to my 10 year old DD!

Faaamily · 25/09/2010 13:56

I thought it was too early to show that sort of violence. Disturbing.

Pwsimerimew · 25/09/2010 20:36

I was shaken by it too Sad

Got an email at work about similar thing. Don't know if its true, but some gangs have apparently been leaving infant car seats by the side of a quiet roads and then dragging off and raping women who stop to check on the 'baby'

How sick is that?

Lougle · 28/09/2010 19:25

The car seat thing is fake - snopes has a piece on it.

Wikipedia says:
According to Ofcom, the watershed on standard television in the UK starts at 09:00 p.m.[7], and finishes at 5:30 a.m. the next morning. Programmes that are 15+ are shown during this period. However, some 12+ shows can be shown before 10:00 p.m., such as The Simpsons, Malcolm in the Middle and Doctor Who. On premium film or pay-per-view services requiring a subscription, the watershed starts at 8:00 p.m. However, 12, 15 and 18 rated films can be shown on PIN protected channels (such as Sky Movies) at any time of the day. Viewers are required to enter their PIN to view. There should be a gentle transition to adult material[8], and 18-rated material is not allowed to be shown before 10:00 p.m.

So watershed is actually 9pm.

I thought Holby was disturbing, but the actress was very good.
