.. last night? I eally enjoyed it, especially the liver dish and the gorgeous looking sausage casseroles. Have never watched Hugh FW before, thought he was quite engaging. Loved his kitchen. Envy

Yes we are huge fans here. His house is to die for!

JeffVadar · 24/09/2010 16:12

Yes, it was good wasn't it! It's inspired me to start making my own stock again.

I like him, but I wish he'd lay off the offal.

JeffVadar · 24/09/2010 16:29

Oooh no, I love a bit of liver (and kidney, and sweetbreads).

However, I can't imagine myself lying on my deathbed wishing I had tried tripe Grin.

Oh, the baked chicken curry looked gorgeous. Prolesworth, let us know how it went?

I am a huge fan of Delia, never watched any of 'the others'. Really liked it last night.... the food all looked so good. Loved the idea of a stew club too. :)

THANKS, Prole! I can never make enough chicken curries, seriously. I'm curry mad and that's so easy.

Fizzywinelover · 25/09/2010 10:02

Thanks Prole! Shall treat curry-mad DH to it this weekend. :)

River Cottage Everyday is a brilliant book.
I have to admit though, although I love his books, I find him really hard to watch on tv. I think it's the lifestyley stuff and the banjo music (though they didn't have too much of that this time IIRC).

muggglewump · 25/09/2010 11:19

We watched it, and are trying the curry recipe later.

I thought the liver looked gorgeous but not sure I'd want to cook it myself. I'm convinced I should like liver, but except for pate and chicken livers, I don't. I try lambs liver every so often to see if I like it yet though.

Fizzywinelover · 25/09/2010 12:13

I have never been a huge liver fan, but I was turned onto it by a restaurant near us. They cut it very very thinly, pan fry it for a fraction of a second each side and have it with sage butter sauce. Divine.

I have a Raymond Blanc book and he cooks it with persillade (sp) which is just parsley, garlic and lemon juice. When DH is working late, that is my indulgent tv dinner. mmm.

Chicken curry tomorrow night as a surprise. :)

I've been jaded recently with cooking programmes.... especially the Sophie Dahl one which was like watching a train wreck, so River cottage inspired me all over again. :)

the liver and cream looked good

tempted to try and cook the simple curry

MrsSnaplegs · 25/09/2010 13:47

We (DH & I) have been huge Hugh (!) fans for ages and watched him progress through all of his series so far. We were supposed to go down to one of the Winter Warmer dinners in Jan but it got snowed off so we have been using our vouchers up slowly on bits we like from the online shop etc and we recently went down to RC HQ for the autumn fair - great family day out although queues for hot food and book signings were massive! One of the guys I work with knew him when he and his wife were in the original cottage for a while (but I might take that with a pinch of salt!) - he said he was a nice guy however I know of someone else who has differing opinions.

We enjoy his programmes and his cookbooks are fairly reliable - never had a bad meal from one yet. He also has motivated us to expanding our grow your own patch in the garden and I make my own preserves as well when at home.

Have to adnit I have never really liked liver before but that recipe looked great and Gil who did the Chicken Curry recipe does some lovely food as well.

fsmail · 25/09/2010 22:57

I want the cook book for Christmas now as I really enjoyed it and I like him because he is just a normal guy who does not try too hard to be liked.

spilttheteaagain · 26/09/2010 13:06

If you don't like liver, he does the liver recipe in the River Cottage Everyday book with heart instead, which I quite like, so will probably try doing it that way.
