I put it on while as background more than anything, but Jesus H, talk about disturbing.

Not sure where that 'while' came from. Please ignore.

Yes. I thought it was very thought provoking. Degenerated a bit into action movie ridiculousness, but thought the lead was very well played and the more serious aspects could have been taken further.

Yes we watched it on Sky on Friday night.

I thought it was really good, DH found it boring.

It was quite odd in places but I loved the deviation from the normal 'alien movie' scenario.

And the whole 'displaced social group' subplot was very clever.

I'm an hour in. I thought I was going to get a bit of MIB-style escapism. I think I'm going to have to find something else a bit more conducive to calm thoughts (DH away for a couple of days so want nice, sunny things to think of atm).

I bought it the other week and was quite Shock when I watched it not at all what I was expecting.

Can't quite put my finger on what was so disturbing about it all!

ConnorTraceptive · 13/09/2010 20:58

I had to watch an episode of friends afterwards so I could go to bed with easier thoughts!

ConnorTraceptive · 13/09/2010 21:00

Don't watch 28 weeks later or cloverfield either whilst your DH is away

Callisto · 13/09/2010 21:00

Ah, I've just found some eye-candy. Tom Cruise in The Firm...

Cloverfield didn't bother me too much, but the 28 Days/28 Weeks Later films still give me nightmares.

I thought District 9 was v clever and thought provoking. Took me months to have seafood without saying "fooking prawns" though Grin

nearlytoolate · 13/09/2010 21:16

Is it on now somewhere?

Callisto · 13/09/2010 21:19

Sky movies. I think it's a premier so on all week.

Watched it last month. I found the whole film really unsettling especially the scene where Wikus is forced to shoot the alien guns.

stleger · 13/09/2010 21:20

My dh and ds loved it and have taken to saying 'fook' a lot. (ds is 18, not a small child in case anyone is horified).

I tuned into 28 weeks later at the very moment Robert Carlyle kissed his wife and became infected. The scene where he killed her kept me up all night.
