Anyone watching? Just watching Tom Jones singing Green Green Grass of Home and it makes me want to cry.

DNephew went to Afghan last year, back safe and sound thank goodness

I've just started it now, a really really worthy cause. I am glad your DNephew came back safeSmile

Shoshe · 12/09/2010 20:34

Seeing the sign from a wife saying her husband was home in 9 days, made the tears run.

Best mates DH is on a plane home now.

Lots of Friends and Family have been in Afghan and Iraq, including DH and DB.

They are all Heroes.

Yes noticed there seemed to be a few empty seats, shame as its for such a good cause.

Enjoying it though.

Robbie is just awful though. It has driven me back to my marking.

TigersChick · 12/09/2010 21:40

Loving the concert Grin

My brother just got back from 7 months in Afghanistan ... so glad he's back safely tho several of his friends weren't so lucky.

Anything anyone does for this cause is alright in my book Smile

colapips · 12/09/2010 21:40

what's up with robbie?

I think best to night was Enrique, and I don't normally like the bloke (yes of course I know him personally Grin)

Hulababy · 12/09/2010 21:43

I think Robbie is fine. No complaimts TBh here.

durga · 12/09/2010 21:44

He is getting a little better, but let me entertain you was just awful, shouty, out of tune, all over the place and quite painful to watch,

I have only been watching a few minutes, saw Enqrique who seem good.

TigersChick · 12/09/2010 21:45

I'm with you Hula Smile

Tho ... I agree that Enrique was amazing Grin

StantonHarcourtTheThird · 12/09/2010 21:46

I am watching it,
Jack Dee totally got it wrong and I usually like him.
Robbie hasn't performed for a long time - is he allowed to have nerves? He has warmed up nicely. IMO

durga · 12/09/2010 21:47

I suspect he is about to be performed off stage.

TigersChick · 12/09/2010 21:47

And here comes Gary Grin

durga · 12/09/2010 21:48

Maybe it was nerves, I think he is quite a tragic figure. When he sings quietly he does have quite a nice voice.

StantonHarcourtTheThird · 12/09/2010 21:48

gary is a much better singer

TigersChick · 12/09/2010 21:51

Robbie is more distinctive but Gary is 'better' in the musical sense.
I know it's sentimental but I love that song Grin

colapips · 12/09/2010 21:53

He's warmed up I'll give you that.

To the woman in the pink top - get off your blokes shoulders - you're being selfish to every one behind you, and you are most certainly are not a teenager so should no better.

YourCallIsImportant · 12/09/2010 21:53

What do you think he just took? Looked like a pill.

Hulababy · 12/09/2010 21:54

I like th new song too; has grown on me a lot.

Robbie has far more stage presence than gary. Always has had. Robbie has always been able to hold the stage far more. Gary's voice is more policshed, but he doesn't have that something else.

Mind, am not too fussy. I like both.

durga · 12/09/2010 21:54

I don't think for one moment that Robbie would claim to be a better singer. He is a good entertainer, I have seen him in concert and thought he was very good. Some of his songs are stunning pieces of pop music. But he just seems to have lost it recently, it is sad really.

colapips · 12/09/2010 21:54

He really forgot those words didn't he.

fin54 · 12/09/2010 21:58

Brilliant concert, my son is a Sergeant in the army and has been in many countries who are in conflict, to say I am very proud of him is an understatement, yes it?s a worry for families when they go away, but what a feeling when they return safe and well.
However, you can never forget to people and their loved ones who have lost their lives fighting in these countries.
I am proud of each one of them.

TigersChick · 12/09/2010 22:00

I've always thought of Robbie as a fantasitic entertainer and a very troubled person ... but the 2 are not mutually exclusive.

ColaPips - He did forget the words... but he did that at the concert I saw him at in Manchester in 1999!

YourCall - He took something - I'd guess it was some kind of anti-adrenaline thingy (can you see how up I am on these things Wink)

Ronaldinhio · 12/09/2010 22:00

Robbie very wild eyed again tonight

durga · 12/09/2010 22:03

All can be forgiven when he sings Angels IMO. Bugger I have not done my marking now.

It always strikes me that he needs to be on stage much more so than any other performer I have seen.
