yes I remember, but they were all really odd Wink

ItWasADarkAndStormyNight · 10/09/2010 20:22

Love it!

Alouiseg · 10/09/2010 20:23

They were brilliant, weren't they Roald Dahl stories?

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 10/09/2010 20:24

Yup, very weird though.

Portofino · 10/09/2010 20:25

ooh loved them! Am now humming theme tune in my head!

snugglejunkie · 10/09/2010 20:29

I think I do - but i might get it confused with The Twilight Zone.

I clearly remember 2 programmes of this ilk:

One featured some sort of demon/gremlin thing on the wing of a passenger jet in flight ripping bits of wing off.. or something. Still freaks me out and I hate sitting near the wing view seat on a plane.

The other was something to do with a village... not being able to get out of it...mist... Again, creepsville.

These ring any bells??

I remember seeing one that really disturbed me. It was about a women who was nearly abducted, but saved by a sweet old women. She went back to the old women caravan to calm down and have a cup of tea. Then the abductor walked into the caravan. The twist was that she wasn't a sweet old women but an accomplice! It still makes me shudder. Grin

I remember them really well - very haunting opening credits and music. The one I really remember is about the woman who murdered her husband by battering him with a frozen leg of lamb. When it was defrosted some time later, she cooked it and - I think - served it to the police officer investigating the crime. Grin

The Roald Dahl stories??

Wasn't there also one where a controlling scientist has his brain and one of his eyes preserved in a dish when he dies, and his wife takes her revenge ...

PavlovtheCat · 10/09/2010 20:43

Oh i used to love them, they were so scary! I can't really remember the actual stories, as I was young, probably too young to really be allowed to watch them, but i remember being really excited when mum let me stay up with her and watch them, and I remember often being really fucking spooked.

I remember a box spinning, at the beginning, a glass box or something? with like a synthesised organ tune or something? even that vague image sends goosebumps up me, sort of reminds me of the later emotions of hammer horror

oh I remember reading a book of my mum's by Roald Dahl, i think it was called Kiss? or something, short stories, they were really fucked up.

CaptainNancy · 10/09/2010 20:44

I remember the one about people gambling their fingers

As a young teenager, the titles seemed intensely erotic...

thefirstmrsDeVere · 10/09/2010 20:47

I remember think how rude the opening sequence was. That nudie woman dancing Shock

I remember a really lame one about a woman that did all sorts of awful things to ensure she was beautiful enough to ensnare her ex only to meet him in the last scene and he was

BLIND Shock
Wasnt one of the best obviously.

Was the doppalganger one a tales of the unexpected? People in yellow oilskins hitch hiking and they had one long crusty fingernail

nikkershaw · 10/09/2010 20:48

think that was a hammer horror one mrsdevere

captainnancy Shock omg! i remember that! Oh i feel all giddy in that young slightly scared way...

Marjee · 10/09/2010 20:48

I remember watching that! There was one where an elderly couple were going on holiday but the man kept making them miss their flight, then he got stuck in the lift at home and she left him there to die!

Hassled · 10/09/2010 20:50

There was one that involved bees and jelly and did the husband make the wife turn into a bee or something? Scared the wits out of me.

DastardlyandSmugly · 10/09/2010 20:50

Does anyone remember the one about the couple who loved keeping animals in cages and ended up in a cage themselves?

ivykaty44 · 10/09/2010 20:51

saturday night after dallas

i remeber one where the man was having an affair and his mistress was blind, she is up for eye replacment when a donar can be found.

the mans wife gets killed and guess who end up with the eyes...

distinct blue eyes

used to live watching and getting scared - my parents where often out and i was in the house alone creepy

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2010 20:52

Oh god yes they were good.

The plane one was the Twilight Zone that was good too.

The plane one.

Stopping time and bomb one

and where the dad had to learn a whole new language

and the boy who could wish things and his parents were so scared... he made his sister's mouth disappear.. shudder

weepootle · 10/09/2010 20:52

snugglejunkie, I remember both of those but they were both Twilight Zone - I loved it.

Also loved tales of the unexpected, would love to watch them all again someday. Are they on tv at the moment?

weepootle · 10/09/2010 20:55

xposts marshabrady.

Ivykate, I remember the one about the eyes but wasn't that a twilight zone as well?
