LR we had that idea last week too

or it is all a dream and they wake up in the end

JoolsToo · 02/09/2005 17:06

I DO like realism which is why I hate American soaps!

Fauve · 02/09/2005 17:16

Aimsmum, yes, the 'thing' in the jungle - which could be inchoate because they all have their own ideas of what it's like - and all the other scary things.

Eg, the dr's big 'issue' psychologically is obviously his daddy, so daddy appears.

Maybe there's a huge pump in the middle of the island giving off hallucinatory vapour which makes their bugbears become real. Or maybe Freud has merged with God and is making it all happen.

I'm another one who's disappointed in it, I'm afraid, although I'll be interested to see what the big plot idea is. Hard to imagine how it can't be a comedown after all the hype, though. Still, I haven't quite brought myself to reading spoiler threads, so I guess I'm still half in there.

yes... heat's description of next weeks episode heavily emphasised the importance of numbers. But I don't want to know! I'm enjoying it!

RTKangaMummy · 03/09/2005 10:59

I watch it on Irish telly here so we are way ahead of Channel 4 -@10 episodes ahead - am still enjoying it and prepared to disregard the silly things for the fun in watching it. I am actually enjoying the flashbacks - cause you make opinions of characters and then they are sometimes thrown on their heads when you see the persons past - especially Sawyers. Wait til u see Hurleys flashback - things get more confused and more clearer!

fairydust · 03/09/2005 15:01

fairydust · 03/09/2005 15:02

albosmum · 03/09/2005 15:39

I agree a bit with fauve - they are living their fears but once they have accepted or overcome fears. I think they will die/rip! - does this make sense

Fauve · 03/09/2005 16:10

Freud will then welcome them into Heaven.

Re the Times piece: I don't agree that Lost is comparable with The Sopranos - I don't think the characterisation is anywhere near as strong. Isn't it just a load of [watchable given desperate state of TV] pap?

No, but I can believe it. Love the Sopranos - and haven't even seen all the series, must get round to getting the later ones.

WideWebWitch · 03/09/2005 20:23

I've seen all of this series and really enjoyed it. I don't care whether it's believable, I suspended disbelief right at the beginning when, er, a load of people survived a plane crash

Socci, it's all been shown in the states. I assume it's extremely rare to survive a plane crash but I could be wrong! I've always thought that when the pilot gives you oxygen masks and tells you to get your life jacket on you might as well wait for your life to flash before you!
