Daybreak vs GMTV

I'm sure we'll get used to it. But musn't Kate et al find it galling, having fronted the show to be invited in periodically to do bits and bobs? And I always preferred GMTV to BBC Breakfast as it was more, well, homely and comforting first thing, and now Daybreak seems just like BBC! And am I the only one who thinks the theme music is the Haribo advert music? "Kids and grown ups love it so, the happy world of Haribo...."

I'm really not happy with it and this morning I put BBC on instead.

I liked GMTV becuse on the whole I liked most of the presenters and they rotated them so you didn't have the same people every morning.
Yesterday on Daybreak I couldn't see the weather map properly because of the lines across the screen.
I agree with you about Daybreak being like the BBC because of Adrian and Christine but the newswoman is from BBC3 news aswell!
For me it's one of those if it ain't broke things Confused

nikkershaw · 08/09/2010 11:49

both are shite

2shoes · 08/09/2010 12:04

i don't like it at all,
so have given up and gone to BBC.
I cannot abide that awful woman (the wannabe wag) and well the bloke is well...........BORING

BenHer · 08/09/2010 16:55

Was amazed to see Lucy Verasamy on there.

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/09/2010 16:59

Much preferred GMTV, now watch BBC and switch it back to watch This Morning.

screamingskull · 08/09/2010 17:13

another vote for GMTV don't like the new set up at all, also think it's very like BBC and yes agree with liking that they used to rotate the presenters so didnt have to watch the same ones all the time.

Sexonlegs · 08/09/2010 17:22

Another not impressed with Daybreak; I too liked the relaxed feel of GMTV and find this new lot too like the BBC breakfast programme.

At least Dan the sport man is still on - yum!

2shoes · 08/09/2010 17:23

Dan is the one thing I liked about the new set up(And I hate sport) so miss him

BitOfFun · 08/09/2010 17:29

I don't especially want to see Ray Mears trying to hump Bleak's leg. They look like a beast with two heads despite occupying a sofa which is so enormous they must have taken the studio roof off and put it in with a crane, and which could comfortably accommodate a chaste distance between "serious journalists". Shitola, IMO.

jodevizes · 08/09/2010 17:38

I hate the way they have to take it in turns to read a sentence of a report. It is probably because Chiles is so boring on his own. That really dumb 5 a day that you cannot live without, not and the naff purple logo. What a load of dross.

EleFunTess · 08/09/2010 18:15

Havent watched it yet. I thought GMTV was absolute tosh, although I do like Kate Garraway. Too much inanity. I have always preferred BBC Brek.

NoseyNooNoo · 08/09/2010 18:19

I'm a BBC person and would not have watched GMTV if it was the only channel working. I've caught about 30 mins of Daybreak so far - I think the presenters really do have chemistry and as for Dan Lob - phwoar, what a delicious looking man.

BBC is more interesting, content-wise.

mindermummy · 09/09/2010 09:42

Oh my god..its so boring compared to GMTV.

chiles is tediously boring when he talks.

Not impressed at all.

EleFunTess · 09/09/2010 15:42

Watched it this morning. It really is quite shit.

Weird camera work, zooming form one side of the studio to the other in 1990s 'zany' Big Breakfast style. But it's not at all 'zany', is it?

Why does Christine and Chiles sit 6so^ close to each other, Christine practically sitting n his knee? But weirdly, when they go into their little chats with talking heads (e.g.Christine discussing Cameron's dad dying with some inane blonde who is apparently 'Daybreak's political editor'; Chiles chatting about footie with some sports hack) they sit miles away from the person they are talking to.

It's all very odd.

I hate all the forced hilarity and laughing camera crew, too. It barely works on the One Show. But it is just too early to have to be forced to give a fuck about what some faceless cameraman finds funny.

Anyway, it's a NO from me Smile

EleFunTess · 09/09/2010 15:42

Why do they sit so close to each other.

Excuse appalling grammar

Loujalou · 10/09/2010 08:36

Ele I agree they are sitting far too close to each other. Made my skin crawl.

I was never a GMTV person but was partial to it when my brain needed something easy to watch. This did not look very good and the set was oh so small.

sharbie · 10/09/2010 13:39

crud tv of the highest order but good for a laugh in the morning before school

they interviewed prince charles and of all the things to ask him about - AC asked if he had any veg he could have for his tea

DanceInTheDark · 10/09/2010 13:42

They sit uncomfortably close together - As if they are a new couple or something.

I HATE the colours, the set looks like it's not finished and i don't like the way the weather map is on all those screens at the back.

It's very 'one show' now which i also didn't like.....

Summerbird73 · 10/09/2010 22:13

GMTV got me through my maternity leave - if only for a little bit of early light entertainment. i liked the fact that the presenting was a little on the wibbly side. It was a little like watching Newsround as a kid in that you thought you were watching 'real news' but watered down a little!

Caught a little bit of Daybreak on Thursday and it was awful. Agree with CB/AC sitting on top of eachother, and i just found the presenting a little - well 'wooden' and boring

And getting Dr Hilary in to voiceover on the news on the health ishoos?? No no no - he isnt a newsreader! I loved it when he sat on the sofa and waffled on about stuff that the man on the street would know but in an authoratitive 'i am a Dr so i know best' kinda way

Bitterly dissapointed of Sumemrbirdland

bronze · 10/09/2010 22:19

GMTV was shit anyway. Haven't watched daybreak.
I tend to stick news24 on at that time if I watch anything

SleepingLion · 12/09/2010 16:14

I watched three seconds of it, realised that I still think the presenters are the most overrated, overpaid people on TV with the exception of footballers, and switched back to BBC Breakfast.

Could Christine Boakley love herself more?

TechLovingDad · 12/09/2010 16:15

Both are shit but at least Christine Thingummy and Lucy Verasamy are watchable.

Obviously I have the sound off.

MeringueUtan · 12/09/2010 16:15

agree both are shit

dan lobb though

phwarr

tefal · 22/09/2010 20:20

Chris Evans has slated it today. Viewing figures are down massively too.

veyron · 23/09/2010 12:20

OMG It is utter shit! I used to like watching GMTV in the morning, and was looking forward to watching it again whilst having my breakfast whilst on ML but I have watched it for the past week and it really is bad. That Adrian bloke who the hell is he? where did he come from before the one show? and that bloody Christine???? If she was chocolate she would eat herself I'm sure!
