Superficially this is yet another reality series. Yet within it there's a germ of an interesting idea which, pre-reality television, would have made a good documentary. Fifty-four modern holidaymakers are sent to a 1960s-style holiday camp on the Isle of Wight to see how they cope with the relentless schedule of silly games, basic amenities and rules that constituted "fun" back then. Slotted in between film of their arduous experience, celebrities share their memories of holiday camps. Not surprisingly, most of them don't enjoy it. Quite simply they're all used to doing what they want when they want, unlike the postwar generation who, according to comedian Tom O'Connor, "needed fun but needed rules to tell them how to have it".

enjoyed wakey. Just goes to show how spoilt teenagers are today. They couldnt follow the rules even though they knew in advance what was goin to happen. Or would that have made cr*p TV.

When the opening credits first started, I thought "Oh blimey, this is going to be cr@p!" but I quite enjoyed it. I thought having the celebrities made it better, otherwise it would've been like any other big-brother type show. On the other hand, maybe I'm biased, because it's my uncle playing the piano in the series! (Not that I'm bragging, well OK maybe I am but I thought he looked very fetching in his pink jacket! )
