to be fair there have been plenty of working class ones despite the lack of specific records. There tends to be more guesswork/generalising: 'Your ancestor was a miner so he would have used a pick and a shovel like these, and he was probably working at the mine during the terrible mining disaster of 1872' etc.

or all you know about a woman is that she had 12 children by the age of 40 and 11 of them died but this enables the sleb to emote and say what a hard life their great great great grandmother must have had and say how proud of them they are / that clearly that is where they get their amazing courage and strength from (cf Jane Horrocks)....

What I could notgr aee with was when Zander felt SO SO aggrieved when one of his heirs passed his title to the brother but his land to his mistress and FOUR illegitimate children.
