Has anyone seen series 1 of engrenages or spiral and can remember the plot?

Have just watched DVD but am really confused by some things. I know no one else who has seen it and gave tried googling and not found much.

I watched and absolutely loved it. Although I don't think I would be able to remember much from the first series plotwise as it is so fast-paced. Could you try the BBC 4 website?

One of the best things is seeing actors who you have never seen before instead of the same boring old faces we see in all the time in series here.

And as for the gorgeous public prosecutor guy ... dreamy!

I hope they do a series three.

Yes I really liked it too. The judicial system is so different there. Do you remember the red haired ambitious defence lawyer? Why did she film the dying woman who had lied about being raped? Then tell her boss she found out nothing then destroy the evidence?I can't see what she hoped to gain.

Also was that body at the end the nasty political guy who was a paeodohile?or just a new case? Have ordered series 2 so these things may be explained. Also if paedophile is not dead I hope red haired lawyer does not work for him.

Yes main man was lovely. But annoying defending friend all the time.

Am going to have to lend it to someone and force them to discuss it with me! I'll have a look agian at BBC website to see if there's old discussions about it.

I wouldn't say that Series 2 particularly links well to number 1. I really liked that aspect of Spiral...

The lawyer filmed the woman because she had said she wanted to put the record straight about the rape allegation and a video was proof. The redhead destroyed the evidence before she showed her boss because she didn't want him to re-ignite his previous hotshot career as everyone's 'go-to' attorney. She wanted to be the rising star that rises above him if you see what I mean.

Body at the end is a new case.

The second series is even better but don't look for loose ends to be tied up regarding cases in series 1; they won't be....which just adds to the coolness of it.

AdelaideJo, I see your reasons for what the red haired laywer did but not sure why she bothered filming it.

I enjoyed it but the misogyny was so awful. The rape reconstructions were incredible, do they really do that in France? Also I kept liking each of the characters in turn then they would do something to annoy me I kept having to realign my sympathies!

Like when the red haired lawyer was definding the wife beater and asked good looking procescutor judge (I have to say jooooje in my head) what her judge was like in the case and he said something like he was on the good side (ie he let off wife beaters)
