Depends what you like. Have just watched the first series from LoveFilm - quite slow paced but great characterisation and such a good depiction of life then. The central character, Don Draper, is intriguing.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 07/08/2010 21:54

Yes yes, I find it totally enthralling and visually stunning.Great characters and very original stuff.

vjg13 · 08/08/2010 19:43

Yes it's very good and amazingly styled.

UnholyMoley · 08/08/2010 19:45

It's my favourite all time tv programme, so I'm a bit biased Wink

It is excellently written, has great acting and the style and scenery is stunning. One of my favourites things about it is that it's very true to the way people treated each other at the time it is set, for example the casual sexism and racism - it isn't sugar coated so I think it's quite an honest portrayal of the period.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/08/2010 19:47

I saw this and was really excited but it starts at 11pm so way past my bed time Sad

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 08/08/2010 19:48

Absolutely. It's the best thing I've ever seen on TV. It's slow paced, stylish, brilliantly subtle yet subversive. I have to have time to mentally process it after each episode finishes - that's after I've spent ten minutes saying, "That was brilliant. Wasn't that brilliant? Amazing." to DH while he says the same to me.

UnholyMoley · 08/08/2010 19:50

Grin LittleCheesy, it's the same in my house.

It does move slowly, but from time to time there is a big shocker moment, when you look at the telly and think 'did I just see that?!!' Shock

thighsmadeofcheddar · 08/08/2010 21:43

Yes like last season and the mower..

kittya · 08/08/2010 21:49

Im looking forward to it. Just hope its not on every night or I will never keep up.

It is so so so good.

You are lucky to be seeing it all for the first time.

The acting is superb, the writing is superb, the direction is superb.

Holymoly321 · 13/08/2010 18:26

ooh, wish I could watch it again from the beginning having never seen it before! It is so so so good. Makes you realise just what crap we usually live with on the telly - it's literally a diamond in the rough! Enjoy! I am jealous!

basildonbond · 13/08/2010 19:41

what channel's it on?

kittya · 13/08/2010 22:50

I started watching it for the 1st time & I think it's fab. It's so refreshingly non-pc too. It makes me really want a pointy bra!

kittya · 20/08/2010 00:17

Yes, it didnt grab me from the first episode but, its slowly sucking me in. Its so non pc, I love that they are fagging it all the way through. He is so easy on the eye!!

chocolatefroggie · 20/08/2010 00:34

It's brilliant! I'm hooked and can't wait for series 4 Grin

bratnav · 20/08/2010 00:38

Just started watching for the first time. I am really enjoying it but the amount of smoking in it makes me itch for a fag :)

singsinthebath · 20/08/2010 01:48

It is so beautifully constructed - every scene counts.

The costumes and the period detail are immaculate.

It is so insightful into the world of male/female politics of the 60s.

I have a girl crush on most of the female leads (especially Joan).

Don Draper is a mysogynistic (sp?) pig yet totally fuckable.

Do you need any more reasons?

muddlinleigh · 20/08/2010 07:50

The BBC has brought forward transmission of Season 4 to the start of September. I've introduced my 63 year old mum to it, she thinks it's fab.

kittya · 20/08/2010 23:09

I love it but I hope they are repeating them all before we see the new season.

Nuttybear · 21/08/2010 16:33
