don't get Living but is this something about not having stepkids involved in a wedding?

I had my 3 stepchildren at my wedding and it was great. DH's DS (16) was one of our witnesses and his girls were my bridesmaids. one of his DDs (both 10) read one of our readings (a poem I'd written when I first met DH) and the other was too shy to read aloud so she was in charge of sprinkling rose petals in front of us it was a small wedding and I let them choose their outfits - even let one of the girls wear trousers with waistcoat as she hates dresses.
it was so amazing having them involved. DH and I had been together about 5 years and already had DD so we were a proper family. their mum (who they live with) was ok about the wedding thankfully and let them stay with us in the hotel.
I didn't make a proper speech at the reception but I did stand up and say thank you to the three of them for accepting me into their lives.
