Just sat in shock about a neighbour that built a wall up to a neighbours window in a fight over land!! I mean FGS, the poor family cant even get out if theres a fire! some people are evil

what was the outcome? I missed the end.

ronx · 15/07/2010 22:11

The neighbours had done nothing wrong in building the wall, according to the law.
The father of the couple who built the house was at fault because, I think, he should not have put windows into the barn, and it looked as if the barn conversion was bigger than the barn.

And I could not work out whether the couple had obtained any legal advice before going ahead and having that conversion built. Surely a lawyer would have pointed out that their windows looked directly into the neighbour's land?

Harimo · 15/07/2010 22:16

Yes, they were in the wrong... BUT... the guys who had put up the wall DID NOT OWN THE HOUSE when the barn was built...

And just to put up that wall???!???! For no good reason other than 'because they can'. They must be horrid, cos the other people seemed genuine enough.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 15/07/2010 22:17

The windows looked onto the land, but all it over looked was the back of the neighbours barns! They said the neighbours at the time didnt mind windows. Yes legally he shouldnt have put windows in, but honestly you must really be quite unhappy to inflict that on that young family.
No outcome unless they could prove thenewer barn had been made smaller when rebuilt.
The convention was bigger, but only because they extended the front.

I'm not saying I would have been so petty to have built a wall to block their view, but I would not be happy if my neighbours built a house with windows that looked directly into my land.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 15/07/2010 22:26

true i can see why they might be upset but all they can see is the backof the barn, hardly looking inot their home! Also they brought it like that too

But RONX.... it was like that when the people who put the wall up BOUGHT it!!

That's why I think it is petty and vindictive.

Oh ... I missed that bit .

I thought the couple had built the house after the neighbours had been there for years.
