Paranoid pre-teen mum help, advice needed

From what I've read discharge means periods with in 2 years. Are their other signs of periods round the corner,

DD just turned 9 has had white/cream odourless discharge in her knickers for about 9 months or more. Not that often just a few days discharge then nothing for a few weeks. DD now has had discharge every few days for about a month, and for the last 5 days everyday. Could periods be ages, or could it be any day. DD just seem to young to deal with periods and I'm getting from family she's far to young and not to worry. I was 13 before I started.

Does she have any breast development yet?

Sorry forgot to say slight swollen nipples and looks a little over weight in chest but other wise skinny. She tells me short brown hairs developing in pubic area. Can see where the hair is coming in arm pits. Tiny spots and blackheads on her nose. Lastly greasy hair on and off.

I was ten. TBH it was quite a relief, as when I went up to secondary school my cycle was already established and I didn't have to go through the "OH MY GOD I'M HAVING MY FIRST PERIOD" in the middle of maths class or something. If you're concerned take her to the GP, but I know a lot of people who started at 10/11.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge just trying to get my head around my dd growing up so fast. Shocked to think my dd could be starting periods soon, as she's just a little girl.

Surely she'll have to developed more to be able to have periods. Or can periods start early on in puberty as I always thought it was one of the last things to happen in puberty.

I know dd not to young for periods so no point in embarrassing dd or wasting the doctor's time hence I ask for this advice.

It sounds like she is nearly there - after breast bud development, and the discharge like you describe, the next step will be a period.

Make sure she is ready,and understands exactly what is coming next, that she has a kit, and maybe talk to the school nurse / whoever looks after the children medically in your school and let your DD know that if anything happens she can go to them for help.Make sure that when the children change for PE that she is not going to feel uncomfortable.

My DD started when she was over twelve and a half and has had three periods in 9 months,so its not like its regular necessarily when they do start.

Spoken to she and we've put together a small bag with spare pants, a pad with wipe and tiny scented bag. DD seems very laid back about the whole things. Very happy to tell teacher if she needs starts and needs any support.

I myself just don't feel ready as I do feel it will be very different if she really did start her period. Does the increase of discharge mean her periods are close as it's now a week of discharge. Lastly could her periods start in the next 2 weeks as she's due to go on a school residential for a week.

Yes of course they could and that would be sods law wouldn't it?!

I really would talk to whoever the medical person is for the trip and say you feel it is looming. Having said that - it could happen to anyone of the girls going on the trip.

Your DD sounds like mine - she really wasn't bothered, and when it did happen she couldn't have cared less. Well done though, as your DD is now prepared. Lots of my DD's friends carried packs like your did at primary - it is just best to be ready.

lexcat - dd started at 11. Talked about it a lot before hand, got her some pads, told her about hygiene etc. Defo had discharge for at least a year before, also pubic hair, greasy hair, little spotty patches on tzone etc. It did take about 2 years from the first signs to her actual first period. I wouldn't worry unduly. She seems cooler about it than you! . dd was one of the first few in her class nad now is an authority on it Good luck x
