Where to buy clothes for 10 year old that are not adults

Hallo

At my wits end trying to get clothes to fit DD1. She is a lovely looking girl but is 5ft 8 and although she does not have any fat on her is large boned. She already has size 8 feet. She has grown out of Gap which was a godsend as the clothes fitted and were not too adult. She grew out of Marks and John Lewis some time ago. Where to go to buy her clothes that are suitable for a 10 year old that fit? I'm getting stressed about it as she has a school French trip in May and will need some trousers and tops. Any ideas gratefully received.

Cheap adults' stuff is the way to go.

I've had some reasonably-priced jeans and tops from the adult section of Next for my 12 year-old - am loath to buy from adults' sections because of VAT, but I got some nice, plain, self-coloured, long-sleeved tops at 2 for £10 and some £18 jeans. Also some good striped, Breton-style tops from Gap in their last sale.

Millets online does good women's fleeces and hoodies, but I don't know if the sale is still on.

She is a mere 5'3", but we're finding that womens' size 8 clothes seem to fit her frame better than children's age 13-14.

It's almost easier to find clothes that don't look so 'adult' in the women's sections, as there tends to be more choice.

Also, outdoor shops.

American Apparel is good for basics...they have a great website

Debenhams teenage range?- seems to be in only the larger branches now unfortunately.

Zara are great - their children's go up to 14years, then they have a "younger" range. Also try Pumpkin Patch who have a range called Urban Angel which ranges from 8 - 14. They don't have a lot of stores, but do have online store www.pumpkinpatch.co.uk. Also have you tried La Redoute online?

I have the same problem with my son, hes 11 1/2, 5ft 4in, very slim, and size 6 shoes,

Try Uniqlo- good quality un-logo-ed tops.

What about the new boden teen range ? I have not tried it myself. We just buy grown up basics from places like gap.

I'd try ebay for adult women's Boden stuff tbh- it always looks very child-like and kooky to me.

Even age 13-14 Boden should fit a 5ft 8 girl. Also comes up fairly regularly on ebay in that size (mother buys boden item for 12-13 yr old girl, girl dislikes item thinking it looks too young for her and never wears it.)

My dd is the same height, but 13; the Boden 13 - 14 is not big enough for her. Also my second dd is tall too. We go for cheap basics and spent quite a lot on jeans (White Stuff or Superdry I'm afraid) as cheap ones not right. M and S now go up to age 14 on line which might do; Next biggest kids size also fits thin girls; New Look 9 - 15 might fit too.

Try stores aimed at teens/young adults some pre teen stores are starting to carry larger sizes and the tees are pretty adorable and pants fit up to size 13ish you can also buy stretchy pants and go to Walmart mix and match clothes,shoes and accessories to make an appropriate aged outfit. My DD is 10 and shes too tall for kids section clothes but finding clothing is easy just have to look for it.

Momsar-this thread hasn't been posted on for 6 years!! I would imagine the OP has found some clothes by now as ops daughter is almost an adult herself!! Did you not see the zombie thread alert??

Dd is nearly 13 and just a little taller. Buy her loads of tops from primark . They do character clothes in the ladies section like marvel, Disney etc. M&s jeans are good as are their jeggings and the jeggings are only £15.
My sister bought her a lovely pair of jeans from river Island at the weekend. Such a nice fit but £40.
We do get a lot of stuff from Mountain Warehouse as well and they are good prices.
