Isn't it weird when you hear this big deep voice and you realise it's your DS!

Just over the last couple of weeks DS' voice has gone really deep. It's even weirder when I phone him up. He's 14. Aw, he growing up. (well, physically anyway lol).

What else makes you realise he's growing up?

I keep wondering why I can hear a man talking upstairs and then I realise its DS! He's only 13 and growing rapidly, he's taller than his eldest sister who's 18 and has another inch to go to catch up with DD2 who is 16. I think his favourite place at the moment is standing in front of the open fridge wondering what to eat next .

I remember my mum saying this about my twin brother. She'd gone to bed early one night as she was ill and got up later and came downstairs because she thought there was a strange man in the house (Dad was out). I don't know what she thought I was up to....

And when their friends say " thank you very much for having me Mrs Pagwatch" and they have a booming voice, hairy chests and are 6ft 4"

I came home one and DS1 had several of the rugby team in the house. I thought I was being robbed

It's exactly the same in our house..i hear DS (14) upstairs and i stop..poop myself and think there is a strange man in my house..and then i remember.

A number of times people have phoned the house and then think they have dialled the wrong number when DS answers and they haven't a clue who he is!!

I am amazed how quick they can grow too! DS has always been one of the smallest in his year group (and with having an August b-day) but he suddenly started growing and he is taller than me and DD who is 5'6 in a really short space of time. He still has a lot of growing to do though as DP is 6'3.

I have 5 other boys all close in age too so it will be fun in our house with them all hitting puberty at the same time!

i remember measuring the height of ds2 who was always a midget esp to his twin sister who always towered him.

no matter how many times i assured him he would grow, he was petrified that he would forever remain a midget like me. so i measured him once a month and made notches in the door frame so he could see how much he had grown.

now he is taller than his sister ( who is pretty tall)

i'm just waiting for them to move out now so dh and i can have their bedrooms. which we often daydream and plan!

LOL! My friend has a DD same age as DS1 (16), they used to spend a lot of time together but we moved & they haven't spoken for quite some time. They were talking on the phone the other night (makes a change from FB or MSN ) and apparently she was almost swooning over his 'manly voice' - she was most impressed!! DS2 (14) OTOH, is just going through the breaking stage at last - he has always had quite a high-pitched voice but it now sounds at times like he has a sore throat. I hope he grows up in other ways once his voice sorts itself out

The voice breaking can go on for a while can't it. DS was squeaking for months before it finally settled. All the boy teenager thing is new for me..i am 1 of 5 girls and we don't have any other boys in the family apart from my lot!!

It's when you have to look up at them. I'm 5'8" but DS1 was taller than me in Year six.

DS1 squeaked a bit for six months. He was only 12 and seemed to hit puberty early. He went a while without putting his hand up in class because he was scared of letting out an unexpected squeak.

DS2 is 12 in a couple of weeks and no sign whatsover of puberty. I should have learned by now they are always different even though they look alike.

Boys are all new to me too. I have no brothers and all girls in our family.

Also although they both have DP's mannerisms I'm noticing more of his adult personality in them as they grow up. It's interesting.

Lol at everyone's posts.

I find it funny unnerving talking to the big deep voice and then they call you 'mummy'.

Mine isn't tall yet, well about the same as me at mo, (which isn't tall )but I'm expecting him to stick his nose in the fridge any day now and then re-emerge some time later looking down at me.

LOL I only have a 3yo DS but already think about this as DH's grandad & uncle have the deepest voices in the world ever and I wonder if he's going to have that voice too!

I've actually got quite a deep voice, my friend phoned the other night, ds answered and he was really offended because friend thought he was me.

I like men to have deep voices.

DS has just come in and shouted 'hi' from the hall. It's really taking some getting used to.

My 'Fridge Hoover' is 15 and about 5'10" (well he was when he set off for school this morning).

Apart form the deep, deep voice (especially first thing in the morning) it the growth spurts that I'm having trouble keeping up with. He had new school trousers in September, again after Christmas and now I've notices that these latest ones are flapping round his ankles!

And don't get me started on shoes...............

DS is taller (5'9") and a much bigger build than me. He's at least 3 stone heavier. Part of his sports training involves weight-lifting and I realised last week that he is capable of lifting more than I weigh.. and certainly more than I can lift. And I used to hoist him over my shoulder not that long ago.

Shoes: DS is now wearing the biggest size you can buy without having to have them specially made. He has feet like roasting pans.

I Laughed out loud at feet like roasting pans!
My Dnephew takes a size 12 shoe and these great big feet are at the end of endless skinny legs (he's living in London, trying for a careeer in the Arts, dahling so doesn't have much money and obviously doesn't waste it on food)
He is 6'4" and has mop of black curly hair and a voice like Alan Rickman, why no lovely man hasn't snapped him I do not know!
Oh I digressed!!

We have piles of enormous shoes by the door. He has a bunch of 14 year old friends around.

My DS was in size 11 in Year7 but his feet seem to stopped growing, for now.
Huge hands as well.

Im a midget

ds1 aged 16 is 6'3

ds2 aged 14 is nearly 6'

ds3 is smaller than me at the mo

im 5'4 and was mistaken for ds1s sister yesterday he wasnt so .

Ds1 went to be having worn size 7 shoes all day in year 8 and woke up unable to get them on his feet and had to wear his Dads size 10s that is true!!!

They all have very deep voices and once I was in tesco and heard the floor vibrate with the thuds of teenage boys and thought the shop was being robbed as everyone stopped to look ....no it was ds1&2 and their cronies come to help me carry my shopping.
