14yr old DD wants a theatre agent

Help ! My 14yr old DD wants to find a theatrical agent with a view to getting stage / TV auditions. Problem is that we think at her age she needs to concentrate on school ( is v.bright and due to take some GCSE's early). She has danced since age of 3 and goes to drama club on Sat morning and had big roles in school plays but don't know that this is any guarantee of success in this cut throat industry. Don't even know how you would go about finding an agent (who you could trust) or how much it would cost .... anyone got any words of wisdom ?

There are agents out there that mainly deal with children. No one can guarantee success but if she really wants to do it and her school are happy to sign the forms for time off(cant perform without them)then she can audition for them. However waiting until school is over will not hold her back, she can still get an agent/training after GCSE's.

Is she doing drama in school?
If she is then the school will know of agencies that contact schools for children to appear in dramas.
If you involve the school then it becomes a serious subject and at the same time puts it on a par with her oh=ther subjects.

My DD gave up her agent at that age to concentrate on school. She then got another when she left drama school. Concentrate on school and do all the amdram she can get to gain experience. She has the rest of her life but only a few years at school.

she will also need a SPOTLIGHT entry

This is happening now for the 2010/2011 entry which is valid from May to May

Well the photos are happening now at Kangaboy's drama school

We decided against him doing the next years issue as he will be 15 when it comes out and he is very tall with a tenor voice and so parts will go to those who are 16 cos of liecense/chaparone issues
